Song: Somewhere I Belong by Linkin Park

Peter was right. When we arrive at the river, only the waterfall and about three metres of ice below it remain.

"We need to cross," Peter grabs Lucy's hand. "Now!"

"Don't beavers make dams?" Lucy asks the Beavers.

"I'm not that fast dear," Mr. Beaver tells her.

"C'mon!" Peter starts pulling Lucy towards the way down but Susan stops them. I keep going and follow the Beavers to the edge.

Halfway down the cliffside, wolves howl behind us. Fuck. "Hurry!" I urge the Pevensies behind me.

We reach the edge and look at the ice. Peter steps on the middle of the ice sheet and it sinks a bit.

"Wait, maybe I should go first," Mr. Beaver suggests. Peter agrees and Mr. Beaver starts walking onto the ice, slapping his tail to check the stability. As he walks I notice that the side nearest the bottom of the waterfall is stable.

"I got it," I say mostly to myself, but to the others as well. Peter tries to stop me as I step onto the ice right next to the frozen waterfall. There's slight cracking but not nearly as much as where Mr. Beaver is standing. "Come on, it's most stable here," I instruct.

They listen and follow behind me. With the added weight, the ice does start to crack and break. However, it's into large chucks that we can walk across like lumberjacks.

"If mum knew what we were doing-"

"Mum's not here," Peter interrupts Susan.

They're both interrupted by an ice chunk tumbling down the waterfall. I look up and there are two wolves running across the top. Dammit, why didn't we do that? The ice is so much thicker up there.

"Oh no!" Lucy screams when she sees them.

"Run!"

We listen to Peter's orders but we're too late. The two wolves have already made it to the other side and the others behind us have us surrounded.

The wolves on the ice in front of us snarl and snap. Mr. Beaver tries to snarl back but one wolf pounces and pins him down.

Seeing the danger he's in, Peter pulls out his sword and points it at the big wolf.

"Put that down, boy," the big one growls, it's Maugrim. "Someone could get hurt."

"Don't worry about me! Run him through!" Mr. Beaver shouts from his spot.

"Leave now, while you can," the wolf says. "And your brother leaves with you."

Peter keeps his sword pointed at the wolf. "Stop, Peter. Maybe we should listen to him!" Susan tries to convince him.

I whip my gaze to her. "Are you insane?" I ask her. "He's obviously lying! We have no way out of here since that way," I point behind us, "is a no go and that way," I point at Maugrim, "is certain death."

"Watch your mouth, girl," Maugrim snarls at me.

I whip to him, anger boiling in me. "Oh, what are you gonna do?" I ask smugly. "Kill me?"

"That's the plan."

I turn to Susan. "What did I fucking tell you." Her eyes widen at my language but I couldn't give a shit right now.

"What's it gonna be, Son of Adam," Maugrim turns his attention back to Peter. "I won't wait forever. And neither will the river."

Lucy and I turn to the waterfall and I can see the cracks forming within it. I look around at Maugrim and Mr. Beaver and the Pevensies. What the hell are we going to do? We're ending up in the river no matter what now.
