Sun filters into the room. Neji turns on his side to avoid the harsh light, but of course, his peace is once again interrupted by his uncle.

The door slams open and Neji instinctively pulls the blankets over his face.

"Are you ever going to tell me what happened to you these last few days?" Hiashi demands, but Neji ignores him. "You should be thankful since I towed your car here!"

"It's fine. Nothing happened. I'm back in one piece, aren't I?" Neji turns to his other side, wanting to face the sun rather than his uncle.

"Your father wouldn't like this," Hiashi says. It's something he always said when he wants to guilt his nephew into submission. "All this sneaking around and lying."

"My father's dead," Neji states as usual. "He doesn't have an opinion anymore. Hizashi Hyuga is dead."

Neji sits up, and the blanket falls from his face, showing his wild hair. He stares directly at his uncle. "What do you have to say to that, huh?"

Hiashi glares and steps out of the room, closing the door rather calmly. It doesn't worry Neji. His uncle won't talk to him for the next couple of days, and he's okay with that.

He flops down onto his bed, too riled up to return to sleep. As he spaces out, his phone rings next to his head. Blindly, he grabs and answers it.

"Hello, you're speaking to the great Neji Hyuga," he says, twirling his hair absentmindedly. "Who might be calling?"

He hears that sweet giggle he loves so much and feels heat rush to his face.

"Oh, Neji," [Name] teases. "I didn't know you had so much personality."

"I... Um." He stammers, trying to find a comeback. "Why are you calling?"

[Name] perks up at his question. "Right! Can you pick me up? For school?"

"I guess. But can't Gaara do it?"

"He lives so far. I wouldn't want to make him travel three times the distance just for me."

"If he loved you, he'd drive ten times the distance." Neji shuffles out of bed. "But okay. And I know the bus isn't an option for you since your injuries and all."

"Thank you. Seriously."

...

When [Name] hobbles to Neji's car, she doesn't expect Tenten to be sitting in the front seat. Neji opens the back door for her, helping her inside.

"Heeey, bestie!" Tenten cheeses at her as Neji climbs into the driver's seat. "How's your leg?"

[Name] smiles weakly. "It's fine. What are you doing here?"

Tenten furrows her brows, confused. "Are you asking me why I'm in my boyfriend's car?"

"No, no, like," [Name] stumbles. "Like, don't you have a car?"

Tenten nods, nearly turning around in her seat as Neji backs out. "Every other day, Neji drives me to school. It's a good way to see each other in the morning and talk about our dreams, their meaning, and what we ate for breakfast. You know, usually couple things!"

[Name] tries not it grimace at the obviously cringe-worthy stuff she's blabbering about. "Me and Gaara never talk about that stuff."

Tenten rolls her eyes, facing forward again. "Pfft! That's cause you two are practically an old married couple. Past all this first puppy love sort of thing." She looks at Neji's focused face and giggles. "I still get butterflies whenever I look at Neji."
