Senior year. The last year until [Name] [Last Name] gets to start her own life as an adult. It's all [Name] ever wanted. She only wanted to graduate to get the hell out of this shithole they called Leafside Private School.

The uniforms were enough to kill the spirit of any student, but the boring classes and the uninterested teachers, ugh, don't get me started. Everything had to be done by the book, and if you break one rule, you'll get yelled at and a call home. It was more of a prison than a school.

Luckily, [Name] isn't living with her parents, she's on her own. Her parents trusted her enough to pay her own bills and buy her own food, but they do help her here and there when she asks for it; which is a rarity of its own.

Anyways, [Name] was hoping this would be her last year at this dreadful school. She's hoping to get through this school year like every other school year; by being independent and hardworking A.K.A by herself.

...

Senior year. The last year Neji has before [Name] leaves forever. He knew about her attending to a college overseas, and honestly, he didn't want her to go. This school may be bland and unforgiving but, [Name] added a spark to his life that he never thought would happen. He became nervous around her, losing his cool and collected nature when she passed him by.

To put it in a better word, he became shy when he was near [Name]. Shy and giddy at the same time. He wanted to express his love for this girl, kiss her and beg her not to leave him, but Neji's rational side told him that was a stupid idea and he'd only end up embarrassing himself in front of everyone; including her.

Neji was hoping to get through this school year, and confess to [Name]. Even if she rejects his offer -- which would devastate him -- he at least wanted her to know that he is deeply in love with her.

...

"Hey [Name]! [Name]!!" Naruto called, running down the halls of Leafside trying to catch up to the fast walking girl. Once he caught up to her, he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, grinning ear to ear. "Ready for another fantastic school year?!"

[Name] shrugs her shoulders. "Not really. I'd rather have this whole school year be done by now."

"But this is the first day!" he exclaimed.

"Yeah well, I'm already looking forward to the end of the year."

With that, [Name] made a hasty escape from Naruto. Her legs carried her to her first class of the day, Civics. She sat in the back corner of the class, where the teacher would never pay attention to. She never wanted to be seen, never wanted to be noticed, and never wanted any attention, but somehow, the spotlight had always found her.

Maybe it was her outstanding grades, or the fact she was always alone despite the many "friends" she had, or maybe it was because she never truly smiled which contrasted with the rest of the emotional students at this school.

The classroom was empty until Sasuke Uchiha entered with a crowd of girls flocking behind him. He sees [Name] sitting in the back and takes the seat next to her. [Name] and Sasuke were best friends.

She liked him because he was quiet, he liked her because she was smart.

The girls squawk, trying to catch Sasuke's attention but he simply didn't care for them, and it was his apathy that drove the girls to him. Ironic, isn't it?

"Ready for Civics?" Sasuke asks [Name], only to create small talk.

She only shrugs. "As long as I pass."

He smirks -- which makes his fan girls swoon. "You'd raise hell if this teacher didn't give you an A."

"Not likely. It just means I have to work harder," she replies dully, taking out a new notebook and pre-sharpened pencils.

"My dad would love your work ethic," he says. "Maybe you should go into business, and work for my family."

"Rather not. But if nothing else works out for me -- which I hope it does -- I'll consider it."

Sasuke always tried to make [Name] work for his dad's company but she always said the same thing. Sasuke admired the hard work [Name] put in everything. He considered her a very intelligent individual, almost as smart as himself, but not quite there.

When the bell rang for class to start, the herd of girls made sounds of disappointment. Most of them left, but two or three of them stayed because they had this class.

The room filled with more people and then finally the teacher. The teacher had long black hair, and green eyes. His skin was a greyish tan. He had a tattoo of stitches going around his neck and wrists. The man looked ancient and yet timeless.

He looked mean, like he should be a bouncer at the club instead of a Civics teacher.

"My name is Mr. Kakuzu. You can call me Mr. K for short," he barks out in a gruff voice. He scans the room with his blank green eyes. "Everyday in this class you will have a warm up. These Warm Ups usually require you to look up some of the information. On the board, there will be a minimum of 3 questions, you will need to answer all of them in a time span of ten minutes. Do you understand?"

The students nod, all too scared to question their new teacher.

"Good." He nods his head before continuing. "Now, get out a piece of paper or a notebook and write a paragraph about how much you know about Civics; what it means to be a citizen and how the government works. Go!"

The class began to work, some struggling with the task, some not. [Name] wasn't one to struggle with things, so she finished the task right away. Sasuke finished two seconds after her, dropping his pen on the desk they shared.

"This class will be fun," he mumbled sarcastically to her. She dismisses his snide comment, only to reply with a seemingly optimistic one.

"We'll see. It's only the first day. It might get better."

[Name] was hoping she was right.
