PART 11

It's Gaara.

[Name] felt her whole world shift. One of her best friends likes her and not in the "oh we're good friends so I like you" way but in the "I want to be in a romantic relationship with you" way.

The emotions she bottled up exploded out of her container like heart. She didn't know how to feel and which emotions were appropriate for this moment. Her stomach turned and her heart lurched from her chest. Blood rushed through her veins as adrenaline brought youthful exuberance to her skin. She felt as if she were floating in midair, only to be kept up by the overwhelming glee she felt in her soul.

Then she started to fall. The happiness leaving her almost immediately as she was ripped back down to reality. She had to respond. But how and when and what should she say?!

No, I have to tell Tenten first. She thought as she went back to her recent messages and clicked on Tenten's number.

It was Gaara!

Gaara likes me.

Though Tenten didn't immediately respond back like she usually did. [Name] didn't mind because she was too giddy about the fact that someone actually likes her. It felt weird for her since she never thought she was ready for love because it seemed so beyond her. She never chased after any boys like the other girls and never has a boy expressed their love for her. [Name] believed that she would be alone for the rest of her life. As sad as that sounds, she was content with the idea. But now, she has a boy that likes her — one of her best friends even.

[Name] knew that she had to think about it first, she was a sensible human being and didn't want to dive right into an area she knew nothing about. Even though she knows Gaara is her best friend, she was aware of the pros and cons of dating one's best friend.

She didn't have to get to know him nor would she have to be awkward on first dates. Although, if the relationship didn't work out, it'll be awkward between the two. She would give her first kiss to someone she trusts, and not to some random guy that may or may not have an ulterior motive. But how would their friends feel about them dating?

[Name] knew that there will be gossip and rumors; but what would people say about two stellar students? No one would gab about two perfectly normal students in a steady relationship — too boring! Well, Tenten would but she's an outlier.

She returned back to Gaara's texts and responded.

If you want to go out with me, you must ask properly.

He replied immediately, playing along with her little game.

Will you, [Name] [Last Name], go out with me?

I'll think about it.

I'll give you my answer tomorrow at school.

The girl smiled down at her phone, the floating feeling coming back to her.

Seven o'clock is when [Name] arrived at school. She walked through the front doors seeing very little students standing in the halls, most of which were staring at their phones. The girl walked to her locker, placing her bag in once she unlocked it. She picked her civics notebook out of her bag and her feet carried her to the library.

[Name] didn't expect Gaara to be sitting at the table she normally sat at this time. He looked bored, and most importantly drained. Calmly, she walked up to him.

"Hey Gaara," she greeted. "You look tired."

The boy smiles and shrugs his shoulders. "Even though I took a sleeping pill last night, I was so nervous about your answer that I couldn't sleep."

"Oh, I'm sorry," she says, taking a seat across from him. "I'm still thinking on it though."

"Take your time."

There was a silence between them. Almost tense, yet it was still comfortable enough to relax. She was apprehensive, as if she was expecting Gaara to burst into tears and beg her to say yes.

But he didn't. Gaara was far too tired to be begging [Name] to say yes. He'll wait patiently for her answer.

It was then that [Name] began to notice something different about Gaara. His half lidded eyes, and tired face looked adorable. His seafoam green eyes held some sort of alluring shine to them and his messy hair made him look far cuter than what she remembered.

Her heart was fluttering in her chest unbeknownst to her. Adrenaline made her skin feel alive again, she felt that floating feeling, that subtle burning sense flowing through her body.

She had to consult Tenten about this. Any fellow girl would do at this point. This feeling was alien to her, but she loved the feeling — felt an euphoric sensation out of it.

She took a shaky breath, looking at Gaara.

"I'll give you my answer before the end of the day, I swear."
