You wandered the halls trying to distract yourself from your current saddened state. You had found your boyfriend cheating on you with a girl from his history class who he was doing a "history project" with. You held your arms close to your chest as you floated down the hallways until stopping randomly. You didn't know what caused you to stop there, but you did. You looked around you, noticing the door you stood in front was the entrance to the cooking club. Quickly peeking your head in to see if anyone was there, you saw no one around. The members of the club were probably out giving food. Which was good, you needed to get your mind off your current distress and you didn't want your best friend, Amao Odayaka, to see you like this. Amao had told you how he felt about your boyfriend since the moment you had started dating him. If only you had listened. You reached into the white drawer closest to the window and pulled out a recipe book that Amao had told you about. Flipping through you landed on something that might flip your mood around. Good, old-fashioned, chocolate chip cookies.
You slightly smile to yourself, opening the book up fully to the recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Seeing the oven preheat instruction you quickly do that first since it can take forever to preheat. Skimming through the list you scoured the cooking club for each of the ingredients. Butter and eggs were in the fridge. Dry ingredients, vanilla extract, and the pièce de résistance: chocolate chips. You reached into a cabinet in the center island and pulled out a stand mixer. You combined all the ingredients and waited a couple minutes as they mixed fully. You noticed the sky had already started to turn the orangey color of golden hour before the sunset fully. After you finished mixing you realized you had no time to wait for the dough to chill, after all there was only an hour left and probably less than that until the cooking club members came back to clean up. You quickly rolled up dough balls and put them on a baking sheet and shoved them into the oven. You repeated the process with more dough and another baking sheet which you proceeded to also shove in the oven just on the top rack.
You decided you didn't need the rest of the dough and probably wouldn't have enough time to make the rest of the cookies either way, seeing as by now you only had 30 minutes left. You put the rest of the dough you hadn't cooked in a baggy and put it in the fridge with a note to the cooking club members.
"Make if you want! Thank you for letting me use the kitchen :))"
You shut the fridge, wiped your hands on your legs, and proceeded to clean up the bowl and ingredients that you had used to make your little snack. As you clean the bowl you get sad again, lost in your thoughts staring at the pink wall. What if you hadn't caught your boy- ex. He's your ex now. Why would he do that? Why wouldn't he just tell you didn't want you anymore? It would've hurt, but it would've hurt less than this. This feeling of not being wanted, not feeling good enough. Suddenly hands on your waist caused you to scream and jump at least five feet in the air away from the person who had grabbed you.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing here, you never come to the cooking club, besides you said yourself 'I can't cook to save my life.' so you're never here. Is everything okay?" Sighing, you look up to meet eyes with Amao. He saw the distress in your gaze. "Hey, tell me what's going on... you know you can talk to me." You saw the caring and concerned look on his face, you feel your throat begin to become sore as you fight back the urge to sob. You felt the tears well up and you ran to him and clung to his chest and cried your eyes out. He hugged you so tight you thought he never was going to let go, which you wouldn't mind if he didn't. "What's wrong darling?" He stroked your hair lovingly as you went from clinging to his apron to wrapping your arms fully around him.
Through sobs you attempted to choke out words. "You were right about him. He cheated on me." You managed to cry out before resuming your crying. He felt his blood begin to boil quickly, as he held you tighter to his chest. How dare he? Amao knew he couldn't do anything about it, you would be furious. You hated fighting, specifically when Amao fought cause he would always get hurt in the process of defending you. Which was more than your ex would ever do. Amao then realized what you had been doing.
"Is that why you're here? Making cookies to make yourself feel better?" You softly nodded. "(Y/N)..."
"I didn't want you to know...I thought the cookies would work, like it does when you make them when I'm sad any other time." You mumbled into his chest. You sniffle but then suddenly squeal when Amao picks you up and sit you on the counter. You hear him sigh, go into a drawer, and open the oven. He takes out your cookies which we're clearly done, but not burnt somehow after all your talking. Putting down the tray on the counter by the stove, he takes a cookie and places it in your hand.
"(Y/N)... Don't ever hesitate to tell me when your feeling bad and let me tell you something." He brought your hands up to your mouth so you would eat the cookie. "You are the most gorgeous, smart, funny, sweet, person I have ever had the chance of being close with. I am lucky to even have you in my life and anyone would be lucky to have you a part of their life. People who don't see how amazing you are, are missing out. You are amazing, you are loved, and you are worth it. You are worth every penny. You are worth every breath of fresh air. You're like a shot of espresso and you just light up a room." You sniffle and start smiling. Tears well up in your eyes at Amao's kind words.
"Thank you, but I don't feel like I deserve that-" You were suddenly cut off by Amao kissing you passionately. You stood frozen until finally kissing back after the shock had disappeared. How could you not have seen it before? He was there, the entire time. You were so blind. After a minute or two, you both finally pull away. He's blushing and looking away from you, almost fearing rejection. All you can do is giggle, and that giggle grows into laughter as you hug him and hold him close. "I can't believe I was so blind." He smiled and pecked you once more on the lips.
"The things that are sweetest in life are the things you wait for."
「finally! a chapter! Was it worth waiting for? I hope you think so! I've never been good with updating regularly so thank you all for waiting patiently for each oneshot :) 」
「Alright so this chapter's question for you is: What's your favorite dessert?」
「 Mine is easily brownies no matter how sick they make me sometimes cause I can't handle my sweets well :))) 」
