I pull away as soon as Vivian walks into Grace's house without looking back.

I feel like a piece of shit for lying to her because I'm gonna go back to the bar.

But first I'll go to my place and leave the car - it'll be more thoughtful to take a taxi now.

Leo is hardly surprised to see me again.

"What the evil brought you here?" he asks brazenly.

"I need a distraction. I can't be in the same space with her," I honestly answer.

I want to talk to Leo, share my problems with him, but the situation doesn't allow.

Therefore, it remains only to drown my sorrow in alcohol.

I order a whiskey on the rocks and look around while waiting.

"Do you happen to know whose birthday it is today?" I try to shout to Leo, who is bored at the bar stand next to me.

"You've already had something to drink, haven't you?" he asks mockingly.

I grin at his words.

"No, unfortunately not," I quip, "You're just sitting here all gloomy while your guests are enjoying the party. It looks as though you are not a part of this company."

But seriously, what a bastard turned up the music at full volume?

The bartender hands me a glass of whiskey, I take it and point Leo towards the door.

He picks up his gin and tonic and nods his head

He picks up his gin and tonic and nods his head.

We can talk quietly outside.
I feel like my vocal cords are close to bleeding after trying to shout over the speakers.

"Do you think anyone from all this crowd of people will notice if I leave?" my friend asks thoughtfully when we find ourselves on the street and go around the corner.

"I will definitely notice, because I dragged myself here just to talk to you," I honestly admit.

When I need to find words of support for someone, a complete vacuum abruptly forms in my head, and all I can do is make an awkward joke.

"Perhaps, if it weren't for your endless problems, we wouldn't have seen each other for many years," he jokingly replies.

The worst part is that he is probably right.

He might be already sick of babysitting me for so many years.

"Damn. Sorry, that's not what I meant. I should have phrased it differently," Leo apologizes, realizing how his words sounded, "Aiden, you know I'm always ready to..."

"Yes, I know," I reassure, patting him on the shoulder.

We drink from our glasses in silence for a while.
