Viktor
We sit, all three of us, round the in-test lighting system, after a successful day.
"When do you think we'll be able to release this to the public?" Sky asks.
"It depends how long it will be until we get results from our ongoing experiment, and on what Heimerdinger says." I say.
"What's the professor got to do with it?" the apprentice questions.
"He usually says thing like 'wait a few years' and 'work on it more' even when the product is perfect. Then, we have to convince him to allow us to put it into use within Piltover. It can take a while." I explain, twizzling round on my chair.
"I have another question," Sky begins, and I really hope it won't be something that could lead into the relationship ship between Jayce and I, "Why were you both so late today? You were both 3 hours late, and it can't be coincidence."
Ah fuck.
"It was his cat," Jayce lies, "There was something wrong with his cat, and he needed help. The cat was sick, and Viktor couldn't get her out from behind some units, so he asked for help. I went to help, we got the cat out, and took her to the vet. They treated her, but it took a while."
We didn't know if Sky had believed the lie, but she might of, because she just nodded and didn't bring it up again. It was a close call, and I can only hope that we have enough stories up our sleeves to cover all the truths.
********************************A couple days later************************************
That Saturday, Jayce turned up at mine. We hadn't planned to be at mine that day, but it was Jayce, so it was allowed. He also looked stressed.
"I had a run in with Mel." he says, sitting down on my sofa, and stroking Nina, who was on the arm of the furniture.
"What happened?" I asked, quessing that it wasn't something good.
"She's flirting around me, and being all affectionate, and I tell her to stop acting that way, and she's just like 'what's wrong? I thought you liked me', but she continues anyway, and I was walking home after seeing Caitlyn and her family, and she caught me round the corner from my street and started questioning me. Mel said 'I thought you liked me', again, and she tried to fucking kiss me. I pushed her away and sternly told her that she's not the only person in the world, and there are many more people in Piltover than just her, and my heart does not belong to her. I'm worried she might have worked out I have someone, and I don't want her to figure out it's you."
I'm shocked. Mel was the person who helped us start HexTech, and now she's trying to tear apart the two people she aided.
"We'll work something out. We're scientists, we always do." I reassure him, taking a seat, then leaning my head on his lap. Jayce strokes my cheek, then takes one of my hands, and kisses it - a strange show of affection, but I liked it anyway.
Nina moves from her position on the arm of the sofa, and purrs loudly in Jayce's face, then mine. Jayce lets out a small laugh, and I smile and stroke Nina, who has decided to resettle in a gap between to sofa and I.
We both must have fallen asleep there and then, on the sofa, me leaning on Jayce, Nina in her little gap. The next thing I knew, I was waking up to a sunrise out the window, because we'd never pulled the curtains shut.
*******************************Monday*****************************
Jayce
On Monday, we are not late. Sky arrives around 10 minutes after us, and quickly goes to check the still-running test. The bulbs are still bright, and none have had an overload.
"They've lasted about 4 days so far, not negative affects. The use of the energy isn't giving off anything harmful. Not only is the HexCore power long lasting at 120 bulbs, but it's good for our environment too." Sky says, writing things down in her notebook.
I go over to the trusty chalkboard, and sketch the circuit that is running. I annotate it with the facts Sky gave (environmentally friendly, powerful, long-lasting).
"The only thing that could possibly be seen as a negative could be that the colour is a pale shade of blue, but everything's still visible in that light." Viktor states, so I add another label to the board - 'light is a pale blue'.
Viktor walks over to the experiment and taps one of the bulbs.
"The light has kept cool! It's much safer than our current lighting system." he announces. These lights really will be a breakthrough.
I put the chalk down after writing the note on heat, and turn when I hear a knock at the door.
"Hello, Councillor Medarda." I say, a little bit of harshness in my voice. She really wasn't someone I wanted to see today. Mel moves over to where our light test is.
"It seems your work is going well. Will there be an announcement soon?" she asks, turning to face in the general direction of the other people in the room.
"Yes, hopefully." Viktor replies, swiftly, wanting Mel's questions to be answered so she will leave.
Mel, however, does not go. She walks over to the chalkboard, so closer to me. A move that is most likely delibrate. She scans the board, then stares me in my soul.
"This lighting system has positive outcomes too. Very successful." The councillor continues to stare right into me. She does not leave.
"You will regret turning me down. I will find whoever it is you feel for, and hurt them more than you've hurt me." Mel quietly spits at me, voice full of evil.
She knows. I say to myself.
She knows I have someone, and if she figures that it's Viktor, he will be hurt. I don't want that to happen. Something has to be done.
So I make a mental note to make a plan. Viktor will not be hurt.
A/N
By the way, I do not like Mel. Out of every character in the Arcane series, I despise her the most. I think it's pretty obvious to figure out how I feel about Councillor Medarda through the way that I portray her.
Anyway, enjoy reading.
