Jayce
I walk out of our testing zone, which is luckily very strong, and contains very little - a table and... just a table actually. And the core, now busted core anyway.
I'm sore from hitting the wall, and I think the small, well not very small, explosion from the HexCore stirred up dust in the room, because my throat's a little tickly. I cough once, and Viktor quickly turns from his desk, and hurridly walks over.
"Are you Ok? Did it explode?" he asks, concerned.
"Did you not hear the reaction?" I joke.
"It's a soundproof room," Viktor states, "But are you hurt?"
"I've probably got a couple bruises, but that's probably the worst of it. The explosion was weaker than usual, so something did work."
"Oh good," Sky says, wandering over, notebook in hand, writing what she's just heard from our conversation, "What do you think needs changing?"
"I'd say thicker glass, more steel, and more bismuth." I suggest, dusting off my clothes from the disturbed dust.
"Well, we'll have to run the test tomorrow anyway. I changed the number on your chalkboard for the lighting experiment, so you don't need to worry about that. I'll see you two tomorrow." Sky concludes, stuffing a couple notebooks and pens in her bag, then leaving the laboratory.
Viktor
"Are you going to yours tonight, or are you staying with me?" I ask.
"I mean, I haven't been home since Sunday, and it's Wednesday. I still live with my mother because my apartment got destroyed, and she's probably wandering where I am." Jayce replies.
"You could tell her why you've been gone for 4 days."
"The truth?" Jayce says, a little shocked, "Mel already knows about us, and we haven't been together that long. I'm not sure I'm ready for anyone else to know."
"It's not like your mother is going to tell anyone, is she?" I question.
"Hmph, you've got a point." he responds, picking up his satchel and swinging it over his shoulder.
"Might as well show you the way to my place, shouldn't I?" Then he takes my hand and leads me out the building, to begin down the streets of Piltover.
"It would be nice meeting your mother - she's the one person I can thank for you."
"That was a really cheesy line. Please don't say that again." he laughs, gripping my hand tighter.
"I promise." He releases my fingers and puts his arm around my shoulders, and now takes my left hand with his left hand.
"Just don't be weird."
"What do you mean?" I say, curious about what he means.
"Don't creep her out by being so logical." he explains.
"You said you love that about me." I reply, teasing him.
"I do, but that doesn't mean everyone else does."
"True." I agree, leaning my head on his shoulder as we near closer to the place he lives.
Jayce
"We're here." I announce, grabbing the house keys out my pocket. I unlock the door and push it open.
"Is that you Jayce?" my mother asks. I hear movement from the room leading off the right of the corridor.
"Hello, Viktor." she then adds, seeing the person next to me.
"I hope you don't mind..." I begin.
"It's fine," she tells us, "Come in to the front room. I'll make tea." My mother takes us into our front room, and we take a seat, as she goes through another dooway to the dining room, which has another doorway to the kitchen. She comes back 10 minutes later with a tray of 3 mugs, a jug and a teapot. She sets it down on the low table.
"I don't know how you like your tea. How do you like your tea?" my mother asks Viktor, looking up.
"Uhhh, 4/5 tea, 1/5 milk." he replies.
"Oh, that's pretty much the same as Jayce. No sugar, a medium brown colour. It's a preference he got off his father, not me. My tea's rather strong, with two sugar cubes." she unnecessarily explains.
"I'm not sure if my parents ever drank tea. I didn't drink tea until I was accepted into the academy here." Viktor says, joining into the conversation.
"So, Jayce, dear, where have you been since Sunday?" my mother questions.
Uhm...
Viktor lightly nudges my foot. He probably means 'you should tell her, just like I said'.
"About that..-" I begin.
"Please say you've finally found yourself a man." she says.
"What?!" I exclaim, shocked that she said 'man' and not 'woman', like I guessed she would when saying such a thing to me.
Viktor chokes on his tea, and has a small, 30 second coughing fit.
"I think your mother is telepathic." Viktor whispers, his voice a little raspy from swallowing tea the wrong way.
"What did you say?" I ask my mother, looking up after checking to see if Viktor was Ok from his attack by tea, and hearing his comment. Also, because I need to know we both heard her correctly.
"I said, 'Please say you've finally founf yourself a man.'" she repeats, sipping her cup of tea.
"Th... that's what I thought you said." I respond, still taken back from the fact she did say 'man'.
"Your my son, Jayce. You'd hope I'd notice things - e.g. not returning home for a few days, always being around Viktor, the way you stare at Viktor, how you react to girls flirting with you."
"She's as smart as me." Viktor comments quietly.
"How?" I bring myself round to speak, very stunned.
"I'm not as stupid as other people. So, anything you need to say about going off since Sunday?"
"Yes, I've found myself a man, and yes, it's Viktor."

If I named my chapters, this one would be called 'tea'.
And no, it has nothing to do with that tea video linked to consent.
