"Jayce," the councillor begins, edging her way closer, "I hope you found my letter this morning."

"Yes." Jayce replies.

"Letter?" I question, looking at Jayce. He hands me enveloped paper from his pocket. It reads 'I have eyes, I see'. I figure out what it means.

"We have to walk past one of the windows to Mel's property to get to our places." I point out. I hear Jayce curse under his breath.

"Well done, Viktor," Mel coos, taking a further step fowards, "And I happened to be standing at that window when you two passed yesterday - holding hands." She spits the last two words with so much hate it's terrifying.

"If you dare to lay even one finger on Viktor, I-" Jayce starts, but I cut him off. I think I have a better approach to this.

"Councillor Medarda, if you have an issue with the relationship between two people, that's so wrong in your eyes, I reccomend you discuss the matter with your fellow councillors, and see what the verdict on two men dating is. For now, in this current moment, I suggest you stop blocking the corridor, and let us return home."

Mel, now clearly shocked, turns around and goes down another corridor.

"I fucking love you, Viktor. How the hell did you pull that off?" Jayce asks, suprised.

"I don't tolerate homophobes. It's that simple. She crossed the line, and suffered the consequences." I answer.

Finally we head home, well, to my home, but it is pretty much the home to both of us.

Jayce

I wake up in a bed, not on a sofa. I look over to a clock - good, we've got an hour before we need to go to work today.

Viktor's lying with his head on the pillow next to me, his arm across my body. I gently shuffle towards him. Gently, I kiss him on the forehead. Viktor groans as he opens his eyes and stretches.

"Hgh, did you have to wake me up?"

"I didn't think you'd want to be late, because I don't." I respond. Viktor rolls over and ends with his back against my body. I kiss him again on the top of his head.

I slip out of bed and rummage around in the bag I'd brought over on Sunday. I pull out clean clothes, then go to the bathroom, where I shower and put on a fresh outfit. I go to the kitchen and cook breakfast. Viktor joins me, also washed and dressed, in the kitchen. He goes into a cupboard and pull out cat food, the puts some in a bowl for Nina.

"I thought maybe we could begin work on stabalising the cores, seeing as it's going to be a while until we get any end results from the lights." I suggest not too long after we turn up at the laboraotry, Sky already there, as usual.

"We'd have to prepare a safe area. The cores can be deadly." Sky says, folding her notebook shut.

"Question is, how do we stabilise them?" Viktor asks.

"I'd suggest some sort of protective layer. Seeing as the cores radiate their energy, as long as that can pass through the layer, they'll work." I tell them.

"So now we're going to need to find a material that can absorb the explosion, and allow through the energy." Viktor announces.

"Some form of reinforced glass?" Sky suggests.

"Chemically reinforced glass? If that's even possible. Whatever is used has to be strong enough to contain the power inside the cores." I say, and then our new project begins.

Viktor

I did wonder how on Earth we'd be able to chemically reinforce glass, but it was easier than I thought - we'd have to make the glass, and no that wouldn't be easy, but like I said, easier than I thought.

"So, glass is made my melting down sand," Sky explains, "And if we add chemicals into a sand mixture, when the glass is formed, it might be stronger."

"But what would we add?" Jayce asks.

"The metals are rather strong, especially steel. If we added small fragments of those, the glass could be made stronger." I states.

"And we could use bismuth. It's a metal that doesn't conduct electricity, and seeing as the power from the cores is basically electricity, the bismuth will stop it escaping." Sky adds.

"Ok. Let's get the stuff. Supply cupboard is... I don't know." Jayce replies.

"The largest, wooden cupboard in the room." Sky answers.

Oh, I hope we don't get hurt stabilising these crystals. Attempting to smash them to see if they work, that could be fatal.

A/N

1k reads (and 69 votes lol)! I never thought we'd get here!

#10 in Jayce. #2 (out of 10, but it's still good) in Jayvik. The Arcane place dropped to #435, but that's still good with over 700 books in there.
