As Xie Lian walked into the The Cave of Ten Thousand Gods for the umpteenth time, he grimaced.

Every time he walked into the cave, and saw the paintings and art, he would wonder to himself 'Why does San Lang make himself a simple blob in them? But yet I look so... Ethereal.'

Of course Xie Lian was not trying to overthink, nor was he trying to sound arrogant. He was just curious.

And since Hua Cheng was right next to him, he thought of asking. Hence why, he took a deep breath to try and boost his confidence. He needed to gather up all his courage as he slightly turned his head towards Hua Cheng, he had asked—

"San Lang... Why are you always so blurry in your paintings?"

Such a build-up and yet it sounded like nothing important.

But of course the question caught Hua Cheng off guard as he widened his singular eye. Xie Lian took this as a mistake and instantly began to shake his head, "You don't have to answer me!" He exclaimed, a little too loud as his voice ricocheted of the caves walls.

Hua Cheng instantly calmed himself, trying to seem casual. He then smiled a lopsided smile, as he responded with a shrug, "Nothing too important." He then continued, "Why do you ask?"

Xie Lian in response, just sighed. His imagination had let him run too wild and he had reached the conclusion that he thought Hua Cheng was having some sort of insecurity! Thankfully it wasn't that, although a part of him was still slightly skeptical.

Only after scolding himself in his head did Xie Lian finally respond, "Haha... I was just curious is all."

Hua Cheng in response, instantly smiled and nodded.

Both of them continued walking, looking at the beautifully carved statues and paintings along the way, Xie Lian asked about every single one and Hua Cheng answered every single question.

A few hours in, and Xie Lian gets a somewhat intrusive idea. What if he said he trusted Hua Cheng to tell the truth about himself in the paintings that he drew. Maybe then he could get the true answer...?

Xie Lian knew it wasn't really the greatest idea he's had, but he was already in too deep. And he wanted to know more about Hua Cheng.

So he called, looking towards Hua Cheng yet again, "San Lang..."

"Yes gege?" Hua Cheng responded kindly, looking towards Xie Lian with a slight smile.

"San Lang I'm sorry if I'm being intrusive but... Could you please tell me the truth about why you don't paint yourself as beautiful as you truly look?" Xie Lian said, a worried look had been etched onto his face.

Internally he facepalmed, 'I wasn't supposed to say it like that!! That's too much!! Oh no!! ' His internal panic insinuated, and Hua Cheng being Hua Cheng, knew that.

So he immediately looked down, a gloomy aura draped over both of them like a blanket.

"San Lang...?" Xie Lian called, an arm reaching out to put on Hua Cheng's shoulder. "Gege..." Hua Cheng responded, stopping Xie Lian's hand from reaching his shoulder and instead taking hold of it softly.

"San Lang tell me what's wrong? Did I say something wrong??" Xie Lian asked, his worry seeping out of his pores, unable to contain it anymore.

Hua Cheng slightly chuckled as he finally looked up, "Gege, am I truly beautiful...? " He asked.

Xie Lian instantly gasped, "Do you not think you look beautiful?" He asked back in pure shock.

Hua Cheng shook his head, still slightly smiling, "I'm sorry gege, I do not think I'm as beautiful as anyone is. And it's all for the right reasons..." He said.

Xie Lian, in response, shook his head rapidly! Making it look like it would fling off of his shoulders, "You're beautiful San Lang! Gorgeous even!" He spoke, words flying out his mouth so sincerely it made even the author tear up.

Hua Cheng widened his eye, shocked that His Highness truly felt that way, "Do you really think so?" He asked again for confirmation.

Xie Lian huffed, removing his hand from Hua Cheng's hold and instead moving both his hands to Hua Cheng's cheeks. "Hua Chengzhu, You're beautiful, you're multi-talented, you're knowledgable, you're smart, you're funny, you're cute, you're pulchritudinous. And you dare think otherwise." He said, their faces inches apart, breathes mingling slightly.

Hua Cheng's eye was basically falling out of his socket! "Y- your highness...!" He said, devotion and happiness filled him to the brim.

Hua Cheng was moved by the sincerity and truthfulness in Xie Lian's voice.

Xie Lian then sighed, his rant finally over. Slowly he pulled Hua Cheng's face closer, close enough until their noses touched each other, they both smiled contently.

"I love you San Lang."

"I love you, Your Highness."
