*written in an old poetry book from my early years, recently found with half of the book still blank, when I thought I could write lyrical poetry; this poem is new*
Hello again
Dear book of old and cringey lyrical poetry
If one could call it that with confidence
I'm twenty four
But your memories are older than time
I wish I could write now
With the guts I had back then
I went to lyrical poetry
Because I liked music
And I thought I was gonna write for the big stars someday
Since I'm older
I can certainly see how that was such a stretch
Because these poems of earlier years make my stomach ache
As I laugh at the painful rhymes that don't make sense
So I thank you again
For being my foundation for realization
And growth
To who I am now
I won't let you down
