Chapter 12

While waiting, he leisurely sat on his rocking chair with a book in his hand. He stays in that position even though Rusca came and delivered the food. He also didn’t take a glance at a presence that exited the bathroom because of the book that had his all attention.

“You can eat first, kid.”

It took him minutes to realize that the kid didn’t respond only to find the said kid falling on the floor and about to lose his consciousness.

“It’s been a day since he fainted and his fever is still high.”

A worry can be seen at Freesia’s face as she continues wiping the sweat forming on the kid’s forehead. On the other hand, Rock remained cool but deep inside is also worried just by watching the kid tossing around and groaning in his deep sleep.

Then a knock can be heard coming from the door. “Sir, a knight wants to check every room with the Territory Lord’s order. Should I allow them?”

“If it is the Count’s order, be it then.”

A knight entered the room and eyes roamed around the area until it stopped to the kid lying on the bed that the manager already warned him about. His attent totally focused on the child that he didn’t notice the two pairs of observing eyes directed to him.

The black haired kid has a high fever that he is breathing heavily and sometimes tossing around and groaning. It said that it had already been going for 24 hours.

The knight worriedly looked at the other black haired man and said, “I think we should have a doctor check on him.”

The man didn’t respond, instead the woman answered him. “We already asked for a doctor but they are too slow and uncooperative.”

The knight deeply understands that. Some doctors are hard to reach when it comes to a patient's status and commoners are the best  example who lack opportunity over everything.

“I’ll help in finding a doctor.”

“No need.” The black haired man finally talked but only shocked him. “The doctor is already here.”

At that exact moment, the door flung open as the doctor and the inn’s manager rushed inside. While the doctor checked the kid, Freesia talked with the knight. It didn’t take long for the doctor to finish checking the kid and proceed in making the unconscious kid carefully drink the medicine.

After that Rusca escorted the doctor and the knight on their way out until then, the other two watched them exited ‘till Rusca sneakily looked back and purposely locked the door.

No one moved for a while, not when Freesia walked to the window to see the doctor and the knight exited the building and walked on the opposite way, then, she closed the window and went back to sit near the bed.

“Are you not gonna tell them?” She asked. Her eyes looked at the kid but her question was directly at the man, seated opposite her.

“Do I need to?” Rock knows what she meant and he also knows it is not his business to meddle. This is the kid’s problem.

“There are knights patrolling outside right now. They are probably looking to the servants who abused the young master and also, to find the missing young master.” Everything she mentioned has been going for hours, the knights only have led to the servants they need to arrest but have no clue where to find the young master.

She took a deep breath as she remembered what she saw when she changed the kid’s clothes. “That explains where he got his bruises.”

The kid in front of them is the eldest son of the Henituse Household.

And they won't be able to find out if the necklace around the kid’s neck didn’t feel the moment he fainted. His appearance is not really a big deal to the two who find hiding real appearance normal. Rock just put it back as it would alarm the kid once he woke up.

“There’s no one in their right mind to run away without reasons.”

Freesia can agree on that.

And this kid has the full right to run away when he feels threatened even at his own home. He didn’t deserve every bad thing that happened to him. They don’t deserve him.
