Maudie POV

"That's going to be 5 dollars." The cashier said.

Once again, my great couponing skills has saved me a lot of money

I grabbed my wallet from my bag.

I opened it and pulled out a 5 dollar bill.

"Here." I said as I handed her the bill.

"Do you need a bag?" The cashier asked.

"Yes please." I said.

"Okay then, Thank you and have a great day!" The cashier said with a smile.

She handed me my bag full of groceries.

I smiled back.

"You too." I said.

I walked out of the convenience store.

It was raining.

Great.

I reached inside my bag and pulled my umbrella out.

I opened it and started walking.

Suddenly,

A car zoomed past me and ran over a puddle.

The water splashed on me and I got soaking wet.

"HEY!" I shouted.

I thought the driver would just keep driving.

But the driver stopped the car.

A familiar looking male figure got out of the car with his umbrella.

"Sorry ma'am-" The man said as he walked over to me

I took me a second to realize that the man,

was Ezra.

My eyes widened and I gasped.

The silence was long.

We stared at each other.

"Maudie?" Ezra said.

"Ezra?" I said.

Ezra and I continued staring at each other in silence

"Uhmm.... You want a ride home? To make up for what I did to you." Ezra asked awkwardly, finally breaking the silence.

I slowly nodded, still shocked.

Ezra walked to his car and I trailed behind him.

Am I dreaming?

Is Ezra really back from Singapore?

He opened the car door for me.

I got in and sat down.

Ezra opened the front door and got in the driver's seat.

He buckled up and looked at me from the car's back view mirror.

He nervously smiled and looked away.

"Uhm, I need your address." Ezra said.

"It's still the same as last time." I said.

"Okay then." Ezra said.

He started driving.

It was a silent ride.

"So, why are you here?" I asked.

"Oh, I'm on vacation." Ezra said.

"Wow, I'm guessing your doing very well with work ." I said.

"I guess you can say that." Ezra said.

It was silent again.

"So, how has life been for you?" Ezra asked.

"Great." I said.

"You must be doing very well at work too." Ezra said.

"Yeah, it is." I said.

"That's great. Oh, I also heard that Kyle made it to the national team." Ezra said.

"Really? You two must be close to know that." I said.

"Yeah, Kyle loves to brag about his athletic achievements." Ezra said.

"Same old Kyle." I said.

"Right?" Ezra said.

"I kinda missed this." I said.

"Me too." Ezra said.

The car suddenly slowed down.

"We're here." Ezra said.

I looked around.

We were at my house.

"Oh, thank you for the ride." I said.

I opened the car door and got out.

By that time, the rain stopped.

I closed the car door and waved a goodbye.

I thought Ezra would drive away but instead, he rolled his car window down.

"Uh we should get dinner sometime...... To catch up. Totally not a date." Ezra said.

"Yup not a date and sure. Why not tomorrow?" I asked.

"Great, I'll pick you up at 6?" Ezra asked.

"Sure. By the way, sorry for getting your car wet. " I said

"Oh don't worry about it. See you tomorrow." Ezra said.

"Bye." I said.

Ezra drove away.

Once he was out of my sight,

I took a deep breath and walked up to my front gate

I guess this is happening..

Ezra POV

I drove away.

I cannot believe what just happened..

I stopped my car at a red light.

My phone started ringing.

Kyle's calling.

I picked it up and answered the call

"Hey Ezra, we need to talk.." Kyle said in a serious tone.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Its late, let's talk more at Jandy park tomorrow at 12 p.m." Kyle said.

"What?" I asked in confusion.

Jandy park is a park near our old primary school.

What is Kyle up to?...
