Ezra POV
"What is it?" Maudie asked.
I bit my lip nervously.
"Go on, tell me" Maudie said as she leaned back and crossed her arms.
"I-im a..." I said.
"Hey Harriet, One coffee please!" A familiar voice said.
Maudie and I turned our heads to see who that familiar voice was.
We saw Ava, talking to Harriet.
Our eyes widened in shock and surprise.
Are our eyes playing tricks on us?
"Is it just me or do I see Ava talking to Harriet..." Maudie whispered.
"Its not just you..." I said.
"Should we walk up to her to see if she's real and not just a figment of our imagination?" Maudie asked.
I nodded.
Maudie and I slowly got up and approached her.
Ava looked at us.
We all froze and stared at each other.
She gasped.
"Maudie? Ezra?" Ava asked.
Maudie and I nodded.
Ava's face lit up.
She immediately pulled Maudie and me into a bear hug.
"I miss you guys so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so-." Ava said.
"Are you done?" Maudie asked.
"I'm not. So so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so much." Ava said.
I looked at Maudie
She looks like when a puppy licks you on the face.
Half sweet, half uncomfortable.
"Can you let go now? I can't breathe." I said as I gasped for air.
"Oops sorry." Ava said as she pulled back from the hug.
We've grown up but this is definitely the same old Ava.
"Ava, I miss you too. What brings you back here?" Maudie asked.
"I'm here to visit my mum and do some errands, I totally forgot you guys live here-" Ava said.
"Its just me who still lives here, Ezra's just on vacation." Maudie said.
"Awh Ezra, thats so sweet. You went on vacation here just to take Maudie on a date." Ava gushed.
"What date? This isn't a date." I said.
"Oh sure..." Ava smiled as she rolled her eyes playfully.
"Anyways, you should totally join us. Right Ezra?" Maudie said.
"Yeah totally." I said as I forced a smile.
"I would love to but I have something to take care of. I'm just here to pick up a coffee. We should totally hang out soon though. Ill just DM you whenever I'm free." Ava said
"Awh that sucks but I understand." Maudie said.
"Ava, got your Americano." Harriet said as she handed her a to-go cup
"I asked for a coffee..." Ava said.
"Yes, you didn't say what kind of coffee. You gotta be more specific." Harriet said with a smile.
"Ooooh, that's.... smart." Ava said.
Ava turned to us.
"I'm going to go now. Have fun on your date!" Ava said as she walked away.
"ITS NOT A DATE!" I shouted after her.
Maudie giggled.
"Come on Ezra lets go back to our date." Maudie said as she walked away.
"Date?!" I asked as I tried catching up to her.
"Yeah, a friend date." Maudie smiled.
