Maudie POV

I leaned against the fence,

patiently waiting for Ezra to pick me up.

Wonder where he's going to take me.

The library?

Nah, it would be too predictable.

However, I would love the library.

Ezra's car pulled up in front of my house.

He got out of his car and walked over to me.

"Ready for our date?" Ezra asked.

"Yup." I said.

"You look beautiful today." Ezra said.

"Oh, so I was hideous yesterday?" I asked.

Ezra looked panic.

"I'm kidding. Now where are you taking me?" I asked as I hooked my arm with his.

"It's still a surprise. Put this on." Ezra said, handing me a blindfold.

I raised an eyebrow and put it on.

He lead me to his car and gave me instructions on how to go in.

"This would have been easier if you just gave me the blindfold in the car." I said.

"Oh well. You live, you learn." Ezra said.

I rolled my eyes and smiled.

I finally got in.

Ezra closed the car door.

He hoped into the driver seat and started the car.

Maudie POV

"We're here." Ezra said.

"Can I take my blindfold off now." I asked.

"Not yet, let me help you out." Ezra said.

Ezra got out of the driver seat and helped me out of the car.

He locked his car and started leading me.

"Now I'm curious. Though can I guess where we are." I said.

"Sure." Ezra said.

"We're at Fred's frozen yoghurt shop right." I said with a smile.

"How did you-" Ezra said.

"I've lived here my whole life, plus I recognize the smell of frozen yoghurt." I said.

"You can smell frozen yoghurt?" Ezra asked.

"Yeah, I have a great sense of smell." I said.

"Of course you do." Ezra said

Ezra took my blindfold off.

I was right.

"It was a great effort though." I said.

"I guess so. But I bet you can't guess what we're going to do here." Ezra said.

"Ooh let me guess, you want us to eat frozen yoghurt and read books together just like old times." I said.

"What, how did yo-" Ezra said.

"Oh, I actually got it right?" I said.

"Yes and I thought I hid it well." Ezra said.

"Don't blame yourself I'm a really good guesser and it's a nice surprise." I said.

"Well this surprise a bust." Ezra said.

"Well A for effort." I said.

"Thanks." Ezra smiled.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go in." I said as I hooked my arms with his.

We walked in and we were greeted by Fred's son, Freddie.

"Good morning Freddie." I greeted.

"Good morning Maudie and Ezra, what can I do for you two." Freddie said.

"One medium butterscotch please." Ezra and I said in unison.

We looked at each other and smile.

"So one couple Large butterscotch froyo to share? cool, got it." Freddie said with a smug smile.

"That sounds good. Are you okay with that Ezra?" I asked.

Ezra nodded.

Ezra pulled out his wallet but I stopped him.

"I'll pay for it." I said.

"No don't, I'm the man." I said.

"Pshh boring. Things have changed." I said as I tapped my card on the card reader.

"Thank you, your order is coming soon." Freddie said.

I started walking to an available table when Ezra grabbed my hand.

"No no, we're sitting at that table." Ezra said pointing to a table at the corner of the store.

It had a stack of books and a reserve sign on it.

It was the exact same table Ezra and I loved to sit in when we were younger.

"We're really doing this huh." I said.

"Yes we are." Ezra said.

Ezra pulled me to the table.

We sat down and patiently waited for our frozen yoghurt.

"This feels weird." I said.

"What does?" Ezra asked.

"Being here, with you." I said

"It has been a while."

"Feels like 17 all over again." I said.

"Yes and a date together is never complete without Ava and Kyle stalking us or third wheeling us." Ezra said.

"Huh?" I asked.

"Look outside." Ezra said.

I looked outside and saw a very suspicious bush with two pairs of binoculars.

"Did you tell them to do that?" I asked.

"No.. I just told Kyle we were going on a date and he must have told Ava." Ezra said.

"Now they're stalking us. Oh this date is perfect." I said.

"Let's wave to them." I said.

Ezra nodded.

We both waved at them.

The suspicious bush started shaking.

They knew we saw them.

The bush started running away.

Ezra and I laughed.

Today was going great.

My phone started to ring.

I picked it up and answered it.

"Hello? How can I help you?" I asked.

"Hi, is this Maudie Miller?" The caller said in a very posh accent.

"Yes, this is Maudie Miller." I said.

"We've found your dad." The caller said

My eyes widened.

Dad?..
