“Where are we heading?” I ask Danny, trying to sound casual.
“You’ll see.” I look away from the window to see him grinning cheekily. I groan. “Don’t worry, Meiky, I promise you’ll love it.”
“Describe what the place is like.” I reason with him.
“Well it’s outdoors.”
I glare at him jokingly. “That’s all? That it’s outdoors? That could be anything!”
“Exactly,” He smirks and I sigh.
“You know I hate surprises.”
“Yeah, I do.” He shrugs. “But you don’t need to worry about this surprise. It’s a good one. Maybe a little corny, cheesy even, but nonetheless it’s a good one.”
“I like corny,” I smile.
“I know,” He chuckles.
It becomes silent and I turn my head back to the window, my thoughts consuming around tonight. Unsurprisingly, I’m nervous. Despite everything concerning Daniel being easy, like our conversations and our spare time, he still never fails to make butterflies appear in my stomach.
“Don’t beat yourself up about it,” He laughs, taking a right. He follows the road through for only a minute before making a left. “We’ll be there in approximately two minutes.”
We come to a dead end and instead of Danny turning around and trying a different route like I thought he would, he drives up onto the gutter and cuts through a field.
“What are you doing?” I give him a funny look while grabbing onto the handle above my head. It’s not exactly the smoothest ride.
”This is where I take you into the middle of nowhere and kill you,” He jokes and I roll my eyes.
“Predictable.”
He laughs again, continuing to ignore me. I don’t move my eyes away form him though, instead I watch him as he drives, his hair flopping around wildly and his shirt revealing only the tiniest fraction of his chest, yet still showing his muscles through the thin material. He’s too attractive for his own good.
“Anameika?”
I look away from him after snapping out of my reverie. I feel my cheeks burn and I look out of the window pointedly, realizing we’re parked and the sun is slowly starting to set. How long was I watching him for? I’m such an idiot!
“I know I’m something good to look at, but how about we hurry before we miss the sunset?” I can hear the smirk in his voice.
“You’re such an ass.” I unclasp my seatbelt, opening the door and jumping out. I slam it shut. Why does he have to embarrass me?
“I’m sorry.” He says after closing his door too. He jogs around to my side of the car. I lean against the door and look away from him. He grabs my hands. “I was only teasing you.”
“I know,” I whisper, realizing how much of a baby I’m acting like. “It’s just silly, how much you can make me blush. And you’re my brother, which makes everything that much more embarrassing.”
“Hey,” He lifts my head up by moving my chin up with his hand. He steps closer to me, pushing his body against mine. “Let’s forget about that. Right now it’s you and me, like it’s always been. Don’t worry about anything else.”
I sigh before smiling at him. “I know, and you’re right. All that matters is you.”
“And you.” He corrects while smiling, leaning his head closer to mine. I keep still as he inches his lips closer to mine. “Do you know how much I want to kiss you right now?” He whispers, his breath caressing my face. I breathe in his smell.
