Chapter 17: On the Way

The herd had difficulties with passing the Lava Falls, but they passed it in the end

Sid almost got his tail into the lava at least twice and the possum twins were clinging onto Manny's back the whole time

But everyone was safe at least

They walked down the path that led them to the Mountain of Hope

"Does any of you have the feeling of being watched? Cause I sure do!" Crash spoke up as Eddie nodded

"Guys, those eyes that are burning in your backs might be the ones of harmless dino-birds" Sid replied with a smile as he continued

"It might be- AHH!"

Everyone turned towards Sid's direction who held his leg

"Sid! What is it?! Are you hurt?!" Brooke asked in panic

"I think I pulled a muscle" Sid groaned in pain as everyone went from shocked to relieved yet annoyed

"Oh, Uncle Sid. Don't ever scare us like that!" Noa sighed

"It's ok! I got it- ouch!" Sid groaned as Manny sighed annoyed

"Alright, hop on"

With a little help from Manny, Sid got onto his back with a smile

"There, now I don't have to walk just like Noa" Sid said

"But you're not the one with a baby belly" Noa giggled

"I'm injured!" Sid replied

"It's just a pulled muscle, it'll heal in a little while" Brooke sighed

"The ladies have a point" Diego agreed

They continued their way through the Dry Range and they were almost halfway

But the sun had already set and must continue tomorrow

"It's getting dark, I think we should settle down for the night" Buck suggested

"Good plan" Everyone agreed

Everyone sat down on the ground after Sid made a fire for him and everyone else

"Oh, guys. Now one day and we'll get to the babies" Shira sighed

"Yeah" Diego agreed as he nuzzled her

"What about Morana? Would she and those mutts find us and try to destroy us?" Min asked

"I'm highly doubtful about that, they don't know this environment. So they would likely get lost or getting eaten" Buck assured

"That's reassuring" Ryan replied with slight sarcasm as Nathan elbowed him, Buck asked

"Does everyone else know some good stories? I'm up for a story"

"I know one. Not really a story, but something that really happened" Keevah replied

Everyone turned towards Keevah with curious expressions on their faces

"Really?" Noa asked

"Yeah" Keevah replied as she started to tell her story

"When I was a little girl, I ran away one day. I was wandering and found the place where that terrible tragedy took place"

Keevah turned to look at Noa and seem to already know what Keevah was talking about

"It was my old home, wasn't it?" Noa asked

"...yes" Keevah answered honestly

Min and Kai looked at Keevah with shock, just like everyone else

"Keevah... you never told us, why?" Min asked

"Because I thought you wouldn't believed me" Keevah replied as she kept telling her story

"I was exploring some of the tents and discovered some interesting things, but this one was the most shocking yet wholesome thing I have discovered" Keevah explained

"What is it?" Noa asked

"It was something about... your father" Keevah answered
