Taking the road back.

How should I put this?
Now that I stopped suddenly,
And looked back on the road I walked.
All I could see was darkness,
It was following me all along.
It scared me, chills went down my spine,
And uncertainty filled my heart.
But that wasn't all that happened,
And I realised something unusual in that moment.
It was a self realization of how dark past can be,
For it is indeed supposed to always be that way.
As people we can't ever turn back time,
And that might someday become our regret.
We are indeed jars filled with desire.
To possess things, and dreams of things to aquire.
But turning back to walk in the past ain't an option.
And that's why, life is also filled with hopes of future.
