Kristian didn't expect the word fun to mean anything good. And she was right, well right in her case. She'd thought the train was loud and obnoxious, but now she sat in the cafeteria unsure of what to grab to eat, unsure of what to... do...

It was a mess of jumbled black clothes, very few dark, (very dark) gray's and reds, but then a mix of colourful hair from natural to dyed. Everywhere the girl looked she just saw black, she saw piercings, saw tattoos, saw heavily built people. They all looked fit, all looked happy, all looked bizarre to her. It was like the Pit she saw earlier but it was somehow even louder.

Her eyes drifted down to the food for maybe the fifth time -- she lost count some time ago. Abnegation mostly ate vegetables and plain food. There's been times Krisitan went to the store with her mother and they'd buy pre-cooked meat just to end up giving it away to the Factionless on the way home. She once went alone, bought enough for her and her family but went home empty-handed after a small family of Factionless asked if she had anything -- and with the other Abnegation nearby helping and watching her, she didn't really have a choice.

When even was the last time she had real meat? Freshly cooked meat by her mother, not something pre-bought or given away. Maybe two months ago, maybe three.

She slowly and awkwardly reached for some beef patties with her fork -- it dripped with grease and she found herself cringing as she put it on her plate. (She ignored one of the transfers near her as the girl just grabbed a patty with her hands, putting it onto her own plate before reaching for something besides it.)

Her eyes flicked down the food and she could feel her mouth fill with drool. Besides the extremely greasy patty, (that was already unappetizing,) she could see grilled vegetables, fresh sauces, all sorts of things.

She flinched as Eaton, who was sitting beside her, nudged her. She looked over at him to see him staring down at his own patty.

"What... what do you do with this?.."

Kristian shrugged, "um... I think you can make a hamburger with it."

Eaton looked down at his own patty which was less greasy than her own, "uh..."

    "Never had one?"

    "...Why would I ask if--"

"Sorry," she murmured quickly, "this is new to me, too," she said, reaching for two buns. She handed him one before splitting hers apart, "I think you can eat it plain if you want..."

There was an awkward silence between the two ex-Abnegation as they tried to figure out the proper way to eat. Kristian tried to watch the others eat, but most were already done or the way they ate was just plain gross. Eaton seemed to watch as well, but he himself couldn't figure it out.

Kristian eventually gave up and took the patty out of the bread she had it between. She cringed as the bread sucked up all the grease and she just found herself cutting the patty with her knife and fork.

There was a snort in front of her, she looked up to see the only Erudite girl there. The blonde noticed her staring and she shook her head, waved her hand and apologized silently as she tried to keep the food in her mouth.

"Leave them be," Owen, next to the girl, said suddenly.

"I am," the blonde said, taking a few french-fries into her mouth, "I'm just watching."

"Why not help instead of watch?.."

"Why aren't you helping? Huh, Amity boy," the girl retorted as she swallowed.
