Bryce's POV
My grandparents have spent most of their life feuding over one thing or another. It's always something with them even when it was as petty as the way the other one ate. They just looked for reasons to bicker. It was rare to spend time with both of them. It wasn't like Nick and Kei who are always together. When Ferrer and Katya were together, it was low jabs through and through. It always ended with Ferrer leaving because Katya doesn't tap out until she wins. Who can win an argument with one if the best criminal defense lawyers? She mentored another great criminal defense lawyer, Elodie McCarthy.

I think uncle Marcelle screwed up. You don't ever let a lawyer like that get away especially in our line of business. I will hire her if I ever get into trouble with the law. She costs a fortune but like Katya, she has never lost a case. I'm rich but I can confidently label her as expensive. It also shows just how deep uncle Marcelle's pockets are. He had the most expensive criminal defense lawyer on his payroll and her go.

I especially enjoyed the fight clip between Elodie and Reina. I was rooting for Elodie.

Back to Elodie's mentor, my grandmother, her refusal to tap out is the reason she stayed with dad. She made sure he was saved and most importantly, it's one of those rare times she worked together with Ferrer.

These days, they are together most of the time and at least there are minimal low jabs. What has ripped this family apart has brought them together. Something good at least.

I'm here to see my father. I hope today he will say something if not look at me and remain silent. It's frustrating to visit him. Brody tried just once and he has never been back again. I keep showing up hoping for something... anything.

"Hey!" Katya punched my torso playfully. "Dude! Hard abs!"

She lifted my shirt. "Katya!"

"You made it!"

"Yeah." I rubbed the back of my head. "Yeah I'm here. How are you?"

Her laughter died down. "Alive. My bones are starting to ache. I tried to run this morning and I ended up walking. I overtook Ferrer. You know his lazy jog? He looks like a sloth in slow motion." She moved in slow motion. "I ended up walking with him. So boring. What happened to me?"

"It's something called aging."

"It sucks. It really does. I miss the gym." She threw some fast punches in the air. She's full of pent-up energy that she never knows what to do with. "I miss the adrenaline and power of pushing myself to the limit! Maybe I should do what Kei is doing."

"What is she doing?"

"She bought 20,000 acres of land. She says she is bringing her father's ranch back to life. The horses, the cows, the whole thing. I should just find a chill thing to do. But when you've lived an action packed life, it's hard to quiet down and be still."

She looked towards the pool. He's there. At least he's outside today.

"Is that what he's going through?"

"You tell me. The guy was a mob boss when he was something between 12-14 years? I don't remember. It's been over 39 years. It's hard for him to just sit like that all day. I think he's bored out of his mind and just sad. It's so frustrating to carry a baby for none months, raise him alone and then he ends up like this. That bitch Reina should be dead but Kei thinks her children need her."

I have had some dark thoughts about Reina.

Once not long ago, I trailed her. I trailed her for a good hour. I had gasoline in my trunk. The plan was to pour it on her and set her ablaze. I did get out of my car when she stopped at a gas station. I did intend to abduct her. But I stopped just a few feet shy. I lowered my baseball cap and I pretended to walk into a convenience store.
