Moon

Moon flew down the mountain. She watched as Shard flew away. He sparkled like a cluster of diamonds as he dove into the school. She saw a yellowy patch on the mountain.

Qibli? She yanked her eyes away and flew after Shard. Just as they got in, she heard the warning bell clanging.

"Music," Shard told her, "Let's get going."

The teacher was Tsunami, which made no sense, in Moon's opinion. What made even less sense was that Qibli didn't do anything. He just sat mournfully around. It turned out that Shard was great at playing the xylophone, but Moon couldn't really enjoy herself with Qibli acting like a turtle stuck in quicksand.

"Qibli, are you okay?" asked Sienna.

"Try being heartbroken two times in a matter of minutes and see how you feel," he snapped.

Heartbroken twice? thought Moon. When, and how?

After class she went to the art cave. One of the school policies was that, during their free time, a student could go to any cave they wanted to. Somebody was already there.

"Moon," Sienna said cheerfully.

"What?" Moon asked.

"I know something you'll like to know," Sienna said.

"What?" Moon repeated.

"Qibli likes you," Sienna said.

"No he doesn't," Moon replied.

"If you say so," Sienna said, but she sounded unconvinced.

Moon walked up to the canvases. They were in a row across several shelves. One of theme looked like it had already been painted. The side was a warm golden yellow. I wonder what this is doing here? Maybe I should take it out and put it somewhere.

It was a painting of two dragons together. Moon recognized one of them as Qibli. And the other one was...her? Down at the bottom was some writing. She lifted it up to look closer. It was two words.
