Aralas pt2: bUt wHaT aBoUt aRwEn

okay, so before I get into this chapter I wanna thank whoever made this:

I found in on Pinterest and I am so so grateful to the original writer (though I can't find them) bc it PERFECTLY sums up exactly what I was gonna say in this chapter, and it words it simpler and better than I could ever have.  this is my EXACT theory for wtf was going on w Aragorn/Legolas/Arwen.  thanks soooo much to whoever originally wrote this <3333

anyways, with that there, let's get on with what part Arwen played in Aralas.

right, so first we have to talk about what I've been saying FOREVER.  Like since I originally read the books.  

Arwen and Aragorn don't. make. sense.

let me explain.  when I read and reread the books for the first time, I'd already watched the movies.  I was looking for moments where movie ships like Arwen x Aragorn and Rosy x Sam were mentioned in the actual text, other than the end were they finally got together.  I noted the moments they were mentioned.  I cant tell you the exact page both of the quotes I'm about to tell you were mentioned, as I annotated on my old ass Sony reader and not my actual copies of the books but either way, the point is clear enough.

Aragorn mentions Arwen TWICE.  Their "relationship" is mentioned TWICE throughout this whole ass 2000 page series.  here are the two quotes:

1)          "He has the favor of the Lady."

this was someone talking about Aragorn to one of the hobbits, I think Frodo, the 'Lady' in question being Arwen.  this could mean literally anything, since Aragorn is literally an elf friend.  Like Gimli has the favor of Galadriel (another 'the Lady'), does that mean they're dating???? NO

OFC NOT

ppl who actually read the books and ship arwen x aragorn are CLINGING to these two tiny ass lines like those dumbasses who still say balrogs have wings when we KNOW they DONT

2)             "The Lady Arwen will be there."

this was when the hobbits and aragorn first arrived in rivendell and aragorn wasn't gonna attend the celebratory feast when frodo woke up after being hit with the Black Breath. someone was trynna convince aragorn to come and attend anyway saying the quote above. AGAIN, this could mean A N Y T H I N G. EVERYONE is struck by arwen. EVERYONE wants to see her.

YK WHY?!?!?!?! CUZ SHES THE FREAKING DAUGHTER OF ELROND.

and like i said, hes an elf friend (and its never mentioned WHY it doesnt nessessarily mean hes dating her) he obviously is friends with everyone at the high table, arwen included.

AND I SAID FRIENDS. F-R-I-E-N-D-S

LIKE THE FRIGGIN TV SHOW

yeah. u get the point. and thats not even it. the SECOND reason it makes no sense is exactly what the pinterest thing i put in the beginning of this chapter says. im willing to admit that it IS POSSIBLE that aragorn THOUGHT he loved arwen. for numerous reasons. but when he met legolas that was all over. the fellowship go on their quest, aragorn gets more confidence in his arwen-will-be-gone-when-i-get-back plan and then--

boom. arwen shows up at his freaking coronation. and if you go back a chapter (i have a gif of this moment there) you can in fact see that there's disappointment on his face when he sees her. see it? yeah. me too.

BUT IM NOT DONE YET. 

if you look at all the moments aragorn and arwen shared BEFORE the journey and compare them (and the look on his face etc) to their finale at his coronation, you can definitely see what i mean when i say aragorn definitely changed his mind about arwen during the quest of the one ring.

every single moment they have together is an i-truly-believe-i-love-you moment.

EVERY SINGE ONE.

EXCEPT FOR THEIR FINAL KISS
THAT IS NOT A FREAKING LOVE KISS
THAT IS A FREAKING RAGE KISS
THAT IS A HOW-DARE-YOU-ARRIVE-AT-MY-CORONATION-JUST-AS-I-WAS-ABOUT-TO-MARRY-LEGOLAS KISS

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight here. there is silent rage in his eyes and you CANNOT convince me otherswise.

anyways, those are my opinions on arwen x aragorn and why i dont think it makes any sense. i will give it to peter jackson though, he really made it seem a lot realer and the first time i watched the movies i definitely shipped them. however it only took one reading of the books for me to realize that a lot of the movie things that made me love them werent in the books and in my controversial opinion were in fact HEADCANNON

yes i am one of those ppl who believes that the movie adaptations for a book/series arent fully canon, which is why i always justify my ships with evidence from the books as well as the movies.

again, before anyone comes for me, i just wanna mention that the actor for aragorn, viggo mortenson, is a really fantastic actor and everything he does for aragorn's character is very justified as he shows true understanding of aragorn's personality. so basically it wasn't just the actors who had chemistry, it was their characters.

BUTTTTTT speaking of the actors, it does help the ship quite a lot that Viggo Mortenson and Orlando Bloom are absolute goals and i adore them with all my heart. thus proves my theory (also proven with drarry) that if you ship the actors AND the characters the ship instantly becomes 100x better.

but like, come on. how can you NOT love these two????
