Adjusting my dress in the three way mirror I smile, the MOBO award was in an hour so I was preparing. After countless fittings I settled for a black Alexander Wang backless dress, with long slit in front,black Christian Loubotin heels, my hair in high ponytail my makeup on fleek, I was beautiful and I felt proud. Ayo already left for Ghana but promised go watch the show so I was determined to do better, this was not my first host but it was my first in London.
"Excuse me ms Aaliyah, ms Stephanie has been trying to reach you" Tessa say, she stood few feet away from me and the designers. I turn to Alexander Wang and smile. "Please excuse me." The man smiles back. "Okay."
I collect the phone walking to the other side of the dressing room. I slid the answer button raising the phone to my ear. "Hello?"
"Oh my god Aaliyah! I was right!! I was right!!! He cheated on me! It's everywhere!!" Steph cried immediately.
"Relax Steph what are you talking about?"I ask confused, who cheated??
"Burna cheated on me Aaliyah,one Jo Pearl just came out with receipts of Burna infidelity. He even promised her marriage!!"
"What??? Oh my god!!!"
Steph cried, "I can't leave the house Aaliyah. I'm so ashamed I let a guy do me this way! After everything we went through he cheated!! I'm finished!!" She cried even harder. I was speechless,how dare Burna cheat? How dare him? God I'm going to kill him and that Jo Pearl.
"Listen Steph be calm okay I'm on my way"
"No! You can't leave the show, I'll be fine okay" she sniff. "you'll have to collect my award on my behalf okay?"
I sigh close to tears too, "are you sure? Will you be okay?"
"Yes Liyah, I'm so heartbroken" Steph cried, I felt bad. Steph doesn't cry for anything so for her to cry this way that means she was really hurt. Why must guys be useless?? "Okay Steph I love you okay? I'll see you later." I hung up and went back to the designers.
Alexander looked at my face and raise a brow. "Are you okay?" He ask
I touch my tear stained cheeks, "not really."
He smile, "You can talk to me."
I sigh, "So my bestfriend just found out that her boyfriend of three years has been cheating on her and the funniest part is that she's suppose to win an award and perform tonight."
"So let me guess she's not coming right?"he ask.
I nod sniffing back tears, Alexander pull me in his arms and hug me"I'm so sorry Liyah no one deserves that bullshit not even the worst person on earth, what do you plan to do?"
I dab my eyes, "she doesn't want me to come home so I guess I'll have to finish the show."
Alexander nod"she'll be fine, you'll be fine okay?"
"The show starts in few minutes ms Aaliyah" a staff announced. I sigh facing the mirror, Alexander adjust my hair and makeup. I face him hugging him again, "thank you."
He smile back, "Go kill it girl"he wink. I follow the staff out waved at few people who greeted me.
"Aaliyah!!"
