We all stayed there in silence for a bit ti'll we started to walk around a littel, kie with pope and me with jj
"So, seems like and pope are friends again" i said while pointing at them kissing.
"Now you owe me 5 bucks" he said. I chuckled and said
"Fine"
"So i wanted to talk to you about earlier" he said
"JJ please not now" i said
"Okay okay fine. You can tell me when your ready but i was actually talking about something else" he said
" and what may that be?" I asked
"Since john b is going to away, it reminded me of when we went after the gold-" he said
"Wich we never got" i cut him off
"You didn't let me finish. Technically we did so my question is when's our date" he asked
"Mmm i don't know what your talking about" i said while smiling
"Stop playing around. We got the gold and now i get a date" he said
"Yeah but we lost it"
"You didn't say if we lost it we couldn't have our date"
I sighed sarcastically
"Okay. If you want me that badly I'll go on a date with you" i said
"Okay where, my bedroom?" He asked
"Excuse me? It's a date, not a fucking me appointment" i said
"Yeah i was just kidding "
"Sure" i said
"Okay, how about we talk about this later?" I asked
"But- uh hey guys, I'm sorry to ruin the party, but uh, we gotta go right now" he said as we heard cop sirens again.
"Come on" he yelled as he grabbed my hand.
Three cop cars pulled up with police officers coming out of them pointing their guns at us so we raised our hands.
"Move. Hands up! Hands up!" One of them yelled
"Pope, hands" kie said looking at pope that was just standing there with his hands down.
"We're too late. He's gone. God damn it! Bratcher have your guy stand down. Let me talk to these kids. All right, where the hell is he?" Shoupe yelled
"WHERE THE HELL IS HE?" He yelled even louder this time.
"JJ! I see your livin' up to your name." He said. I got pissed that he would talk to him like that, i walked over to him angrily before an officer held me back.
"Pope how about you? This isn't a fucking game! You can do the right thing right now! Where'd he go?" He yelled.
The cop let go off me and i saw him say something into his walkie-talkie but the only thing i heard was "small boat"

Fast foward

They put us in the car and drove us over to a bunch of big tents by the beach.
"Sit down. Don't move. We got a lot to talk about. Keep an eye on these kids." Shoupe rold an officer
"Blockade is up at the marsh and masonboro and all other inlets fro. Shem creek to breach inlet. I want eyes on all costal acess points, people. Let's get this guy" I heard an officer tell his team, i started to get nervous that they would catch him or that my mom would show up so my leg started to shake.
"It's okay" jj whispered while putting his hand on my lower thigh.
I gave him a light smile and put my head on his shoulder.
"That's them. There they are!" I heard a cop yell
"Fuck" i said.
As i saw ward cameron grabbing the walkie-talkie and talking to them telling them to come back.
I zoned out afterwards because i got a huge headache until i saw the cops come back to us.
"Did you find them?" Pope asked
"No" Shoupe said
"So they got away?" Kie asked
He stayed silent for a moment before answering
"We, uh... we lost them. I'm  sorry"
"You lost them?" Pope asked
"Your sorry?" I askes not believing it
"What do you mean you lost them? Like, they're gone? What are you talking about ?" Pope asked
"They took an open boat into a tropical depression, pope." He answered
"So, they're dead?" Kie asked with tears in her eyes
"We don't know" shoupe said
"You drove them straight through the storm,man! Are you kidding me? Come here I'm gonna kill you !" JJ yelled as he attacked shoupe
"JJ" kie yelled
"Stop" i yelled
"I'm gonna kill you, you bastard!" He yelled once again .
Another officer held him tight. There where screams everywhere but the only thing i could think about was the thought of them being gone. I started to cry imagining a life without my brother and bestfriend.
I saw kie's and pope's parents arrive so i knew mine would be here soon too.
Me and jj just stood there alone until pope's father pulled us into the hug.
I cried for a while hugging jj tightly until i saw my mom and i pulled away.
"Y/n let's go" she said
"I'm not going anywhere with you" i said while backing up.
"Y/n we'll talk about this at home" she said grabbing my wrist tightly
"NO" i yelled wich caused her to slap me across the face.
"Don't touch her like that" jj yelled while putting me behind him.
An officer handcuffed my mom and was arresting her for child abuse.
"You'll regret this y/n, your dad would be sooo disappointed of you" she yelled. I went up to her ear and whispered
"You ruined my life, i hope you spend a nice time scrubbing toilets in prison" i said.
