BEEP BEEP BEEP!!! Sophie jerked awake, and hit her head on the ceiling. She doesn't know for the life of her, why she thought getting a loft bed was a good idea, when she was little. She turned off her blaring alarm, and climbed out of bed, to see her hair resembled a pineapple. She tried brushing it out, but the brush just got stuck in her hair. She decided to just go with it, and threw on a dark red hoodie, jeans, and her black converse. She trudged down the stairs, and into the kitchen. Edaline was making pancakes, while Grady read the morning paper.
"Good Mor---," Edaline's eyes went wide, when she saw Sophie, "Sweetie, what happened to your hair?"
"Let's just say bedhead," Sophie said.
Edaline grabbed a brush and tried to tame Sophie's tumbleweed of hair.
"Did you get the hairbrush out of there?" Sophie asked.
"What hairbrush?" Edaline asked.
Sophie groaned, when Edaline brought her freshly made blueberry pancakes. Sophie thanked Edaline and hooved them down.
"Bye Sophie," Grady and Edaline they hugged her and Sophie headed out the door to catch the bus to school.
When she got onto the bus, a lot of the rows were taken, except for a few spots. And every spot she tried to sit in, the person next to it said it was taken. She neared the back of the bus, she saw a girl with brown curly hair, with an empty seat next to her. Right when Sophie was about to sit down, a girl with dark skin, black hair, and purple highlights, slipped into the spot.
"Seats taken," the girl said.
Sophie thought nothing of it, and moved on. The two girls snickered, as she kept walking down the bus. Sophie, worried she would have to sit in the back, until a boy, with strawberry blonde hair pulled her into a seat before the back.
"Thank you, I thought I was going to have to sit in the back," Sophie said, putting her backpack down.
"Dexter Dizznee, at your service, but please, call me Dex," the boy introduced himself, "And what might your name be?"
"Sophie Foster," Sophie replied.
"Those girls that laughed at you, the girl with the curly brown hair was Stina, and the girl with her was one of her minions, Maruca," Dex explained.
"Well I'm not sure who put what in her breakfast this morning, but she does not like me," Sophie said.
She and Dex kept on talking on the bus until they arrived at Foxfire High. The buildings were a Marshmallow white, with golden accents. The school was made up of multiple buildings and terraces and was settled into some hills. Each terrace had beautiful wildflowers decorated on them. The entrance for the bus was a roundabout surrounding a beautiful fountain.
"This seems more like a billionaires mansion than a school," Sophie commented.
"Our school has a very active donor's association, full of rich billionaires," Dex explained and they stepped off the bus onto Foxfire's beautiful entrance.
Sophie took a deep breath, and she felt her brain relax and start working a small bit faster.
"Is your brain speeding up and becoming calmer at the same time?" Dex asked.
"Wow," Sophie was astonished.
"It's the pollen from the flowers. The kids in genetics and chemistry found a way to breed flowers that make your brain work faster and calmer at the same time," Dex explained.
They walked into the school, and their was a front desk. A lady stood behind it, a woman with long brown hair, and porcelain skin. She wore a purple velvet dress with a spotted blouse.
