Hello, so I'm going to start each chapter by putting the date now because last chapter I stated that Biana's first meeting is Nov 21, so that sets a timeline that I'd like to keep track of. Side note: Please leave your opinions on the musical element Ive used in the past in the comments and any suggestions for future songs!

November 15, 2022

Sophie looked down at the list and she still had a lot to handle for her birthday on Friday:

1. Venue
2. Food
3. Invites
4. Music
5. Decorations
6. Whatever the heck else we need

She looked up at Biana, Keefe, Fitz, Dex, Tam, and Linh.

"Tam and Linh, you're on food. Biana, Fitz, and Keefe you'll be on music arrangements. Remember we'll all be singing so choose the songs wisely. Dex and I will be handling the Venue and Invites," Sophie alerted all of them.

"I didn't know when we got pulled into this friend group we'd have to do so much work," Tam muttered and Linh shot him a look as they walked away.

"I'll text you what we need!" Sophie called after them.

A simple wave from them told her they heard her.

"We'll stay here and brainstorm songs," Biana said and Sophie and Dex were off looking for venues.

"So, I had a few options for where we could have the party. Kiyomisu's Marketplace, the San Francisco Bay Aquarium, and there is this place with this Lake Tahoe styled architecture called the Jewel of the Bay," Dex pulled up the notes on his phone.

"How far is each from school?" Sophie asked.

"Kiyomisu's is in Japantown so downtown San Francisco. The aquarium is along the pier. And the Jewel of the Bay is actually at Rodeo Beach just down the coast from our neighborhood," Dex told her.

After school they went by Kiyomisu's and The Aquarium and they were turned away because they were preparing for the Christmas Parade in a couple of weeks. They walked up to the Jewel of the Bay and it was super run down. They forced the front door open and practically fell on their faces. Dust exploded in the air.

"How old is this place?" Sophie coughed.

"The picture of this place was from 2012, so that explains the wood rot," Dex fanned away dust with his hands. He looked at the floor to find the deed to the whole property.

"What in the world? Someone just left this place for the taking," Dex blew the dust off of it.

They made their way through the lobby to the open air back area where the party would take place. The whole place screamed wood lodge. There was a stage and a large dancefloor, taking the center of the outside area. The ground was a stone patio and tables were sprinkled around the dance floor.

"What do you suppose we do?" Dex asked, lightly kicking a wooden plank over.

"I think we should use it. We have three days to prep, and it has a lot of potential!" Sophie said enthusiastically.

"We're going to need everyone for this, we'll need to work a lot, so thankfully our neighborhood is just up the coast," Dex added.

Sophie called everyone over.

"You want us to do what?" Tam looked at the disaster of a place.

"I want you to help me to have it party-ready by Friday," Sophie repeated herself like it wasn't practically impossible.

"For starters this place is absolutely destroyed, it appears that the electricity is out, we need to replace almost everything, plus decorate it, and we probably need a staff to handle food and service," Tam listed off everything.

"Grady and Edaline can handle hiring a staff, Dex will work on electrical, everyone else can handle clean-up. Linh is Gigi available to make a buffet for 80-100 people? Also Biana you'll be in charge of decoration," Sophie told everyone.

"I'll speak to her about it. With the Parade coming up she's been pretty busy with this years float," Linh answered Sophie.

"I'll call the original owners about this place, and Grady and Edaline," Sophie concluded.

Dex had to run home and grab his tools, while everyone else began working. Sophie made the call to her parents and they sent two dozen of their farm hands.

Sophie dialed in the number on the deed on her phone and pressed call. After a few rings she was beginning to think that the number was no longer callable but then someone picked up.

"Hello? Who is this?" a female voice answered.

"This is Sophie Foster I wanted to ask you about your previously owned property on Rodeo Beach?" Sophie asked her.

"Rodeo beach? Gosh that brings me back.." the female drifted off, "I don't recommend taking ownership. I left the deed there in 2012 because business was awful once the neighborhood up the hill was built. The people who lived up there were old rich snobs, that kept complaining to the police about the noise."

"Why didn't you just sell the property?" Sophie asked.

"All of the buyers were the people up the hill," the female explained.

Sophie confirmed that she was the new owner, and asked a few other questions.

"Thank you, can I have a name for references or follow up questions?" Sophie finished.

"Alina Garcia," the lady hung up.

"Wait, was that just my principal?" Sophie asked herself.

Dex was already back and fiddling with the wires in the fuse box. Linh had confirmed that Gigi would be helping with the food but she needed some extra help.

"Who do we know that are chefs?" Sophie called out.

While they thought that out, Dex had got the electricity working, and the dance floor had been cleaned out. By then the sun was falling down into the ocean and things got darker around them.

"Everyone meet here after school tomorrow!" Sophie told them and Fitz stayed behind.

They both looked out at the sunset.

"Sophie, I have something to tell you. Ever since the Moon festival at Father Terik's tent I've been thinking about my fortune, I finally figured it out earlier," Fitz told her, "You are the person. Seeing you work so hard for what you want, showed me the truth. I like you Sophie. Like, "like" like you."
