Chapter 1

{A/n: Hey everyone Roach here with another chapter! DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT own Horimiya!}

*(Y/n)'s pov*

I arrived with Souta at his house and we walked into the house and that's when a familiar voice spoke up. "Souta is that you?" A female voice said and then I saw Kyouko Hori peak around the corner holding a basket of dirty clothes. She was dressed in casual clothing and when she saw Souta's scuffed up face. "OH MY GOSH!? Souta are you okay?" She asked as she rushed over and started wiping his face with a rag. It seems his nose started bleeding again slightly. So Kyouko is his sister huh? Well he seems to be in good hands now so I should get going. I thought to myself. "Well it seems you have everything under control. I'll head on out." I said turning to leave but Souta grabbed my jacket sleeve as Kyouko looked up at me surprised for some reason but I ignored it as she composed herself. "Uhh so why don't you stay for a bit (L/n)?" She asked me and I rubbed my neck and shrugged. "Sure. I got some time to kill." I said not wanting to be rude. So after that we went into the living room and we sat down at the table. Kyouko gave me a glass of tea and some juice to Souta. "Your brother fell after getting spooked by a dog. He told me his address and his name. He's a smart and good kid." I said to Kyouko and she smiled. "I'm glad to hear that!" Kyouko replied and I smiled and nodded and took a sip of my drink. This is so awkward! I thought to myself as I sipped from my drink. "So uh (L/n) why are you out and about?" Kyouko asked me and I smiled at her. "You can just call me (Y/n), and I went to go eat dinner." I replied and she nods. "By yourself Big bro?" Souta asked me and I nodded. "Yeah. My Aunt and Uncle are still at work and my cousin Karen is at a friend's place." I replied and they nodded. "Aunt? Uncle? Cousin? What about your mom and dad?" Souta asked me and I smiled. "I came to Japan to live with my Aunt and Uncle." I replied and Kyouko looked at me. "Did something happen to your parents?" She asked me and I shook my head. "No. I just........ Don't get along with them is all." I replied after a brief pause to think about how to respond and they nodded. 

I then spent a bit more time hanging out with Kyouko and Souta before I headed home. Once I got home I started up my computer and started doing some work on videos and communicating with my editors before going to bed. The next day I went to school and sat at the same seat I sat in yesterday and rested my head on the desk as usual however this time something different happened. Kyouko approached me and I looked up at her. "Can I talk to you?" She asked me and I nodded. "Sure." I said before getting up and walking out onto the nearby balcony with her. "So what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked her as I leaned against the railing and she smiled slightly. "Want to come over after school?" She asked me and I looked at her surprised. "Wait! Really?" I asked and she nodded. "Souta wanted me to ask you if you can." She said and I nodded and pulled out my phone and checked my streaming schedule and saw I had no streams planned today so I smiled and nodded. "Yeah I can come over!" I replied and she nodded smiling. "Great! He'd be so happy!" She replied smiling and I nodded. After that we returned to the classroom and class started. 

*After Classes Ended*

After school I went home to change clothes then I got a book to give to Souta and then headed to Kyouko's house. When I arrived at her house I knocked on the door and she let me in. After making myself at home I sat down and gave Souta the picture book I brought him. "Oh wow! Thanks big bro!" He said smiling. "You didn't have to do that (Y/n)." Kyouko said smiling and I nodded. "I know but I wanted too!" I replied and she nodded smiling. "So uh (Y/n) are you a uh otaku or weeb?" She asked me and I shook my head. "No not really. I mean I like anime and manga but I'm not overboard on that stuff." I replied and she nodded in surprise. "Then why did an american move to Japan?" She asked me and I shrugged. "Japan just happened to be where my uncle was living when He offered to let me live with him!" I replied and she nodded. "I see." She said. After that I had spent the next couple days hanging out at Kyouko's house. Kyouko was quite smart. She got all 100s on her tests in all courses except PE and Health where she got 80s. I also learned that Kyouko had been sacrificing her free time to spend at home taking care of the house chores and looking after Souta. Kyouko is also a really good cook to, in fact I have eaten at her house several times and all the meals were delicious. I also found out that Kyouko likes horror movies and whenever Souta isn't around we often watch them together. Surprisingly the two of us have become really good friends with each other.
