Chapter 6

*(Y/n)'s pov*

A day or so after Tooru came over to my house to tell me about what he heard at school I was at home early in the morning getting ready to head to school when my phone rang. I picked it up and saw it was Kyouko's phone number. I raised an eyebrow confused and answered it. "Hey Kyouko. Is something wrong?" I said into the phone but I was met by a different voice then Kyouko's. "Hey big bro. Sis is sick and I'm worried she's going to die! I can't stay to with her because I have to go to school can you come check on her since Mom is at work?" I heard Souta say in a frantic tone. "Oh alright. Sure, I'll stop by on my way to school to check in on her." I replied. "Thanks big bro! I got to go to class now!" Souta replied before saying good bye and hanging up. I then finished getting dressed and gathered my things and headed to school calling Tooru to let him know to tell the teacher that Kyouko is sick and that I'm going to check up on her before heading there. After a few minutes of walking I arrived at their house. The door was locked but Kyouko and Souta had told me where they keep another key so I retrieved it and unlocked the door and returned the key before going into the house. I put my bag down on the kitchen table and headed upstairs to Kyouko's room. I knocked on the door gently. "Kyouko?" I said after I didn't get a reply and I slowly opened the door to see she was asleep in her bed. I walked over to her and gently placed my hand on her forehead. Yikes! She definitely has a high fever! I thought to myself as I noticed that her forehead felt really warm. I then went to the bathroom and got a wash cloth and turned on the sink and let the water get cold before I soaked the rag and ringed it out before returning to her room and gently placing the damp folded rag over her forehead.

I then sat down on the floor and waited and after about 20 minutes Kyouko started to wake up. She sat up taking the cloth off her forehead and looked at it confused. "Easy Kyouko. You need to rest." I said moving to her bedside and she looked at me surprised. "(Y/n)?! What are you doing here?" She asked me and I smiled at her. "Souta called me saying his big sis was sick and about to die and asked me to come check on you." I replied with a small smile on my face and she gained a small smile of her own and looked at the bed. "That boy." She said and I moved a tad bit closer. "Have you taken your temperature Kyouko?" I asked her softly. "Yeah." She replied nodding slightly. "What was it?" I replied. "Uhh 38 Celsius, no 37 celsius. Uhh somewhere in there. I can't remember." She replied and I nodded. 38 Celsius huh? That's about 100 something Fahrenheit. I thought to myself. "Have you taken any medicine Kyouko?" I asked her and she nodded. "Yeah. Right before I fell asleep." She replied and I nodded. "You're dressed to go to school huh? That's so like you to go to school despite being sick!" I said and she looked at me. "You don't have to worry about it though. I called Tooru and told him to tell the teacher you're sick and explain why I'm not there as well. So just lie down and get some rest and I'll get you some water." I said starting to get up and head towards the door. Just as I gripped the door knob I heard a loud thud behind me and turned to see Kyouko laying on the ground trying to push herself up. "Kyouko!?" I said rushing over to her and helping her sit up but she gripped my arms and looked at me with tear filled eyes. "Where are you going?!" She yelled at me and I looked at her confused. "I'm just going to get you some water." I said as she looked at me as tears fell down her cheeks. "Where are you going? You always leave me when I need you!" She said crying more and my eyes widened. I see. This is about her always having to deal with things on her own since her parents are always at work. She always put on a strong front but in reality she's just a girl who feels alone at times. I thought to myself as I gently wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into a hug. "When you say where are you going you mean Please don't go, Right?" I asked softly as she rested her face against my shoulder and I rubbed her back gently while she clinged to me.

I gently rubbed her head and held her close to me. "Don't worry Kyouko. I'm not going to leave you until you don't need me anymore! Until that point I'll stay by your side for that entire time!" I said and she just continued to cling to me and after a bit her crying died down and she loosened her grip. I then helped her to stand up. "Change into more comfortable clothes while I go get you some water. Okay?" I asked and she just nodded wiping tears from her eyes. I smiled softly and left the room to get her a glass of water. When I returned to the room I knocked on the door. "Kyouko, Can I come in?" I asked through the door. "Yeah. You can come in." I heard reply softly so I opened the door and walked over to her and gave her the cup. She smiled at me. "Thank you." She said softly as she sipped on the water. "You're welcome Kyouko. I care about you a lot so I just couldn't leave you like that!" I said blushing slightly. She blushed and looked at me as she nodded. I then looked at her with a serious look. "And just so we're clear I meant what I said." I said to her and she looked at me confused. "I'll stay with you for as long as you need me too! I like you a lot so I'm not just going to run away from you." I said as my cheeks turned a darker shade of red. Her face turned red and she pushed the empty cup of water into my face. "You dummy! You can't just go saying things like that!?" She yelled as I took the glass and she laid down on the bed pulling the blankets up to her head and rolled onto her side where her back was facing me. "B-but I do like you too you dummy!" I heard her say softly and I smiled and nodded. "Do you want another glass of water Kyouko?" I asked her and she shook her head. "N-No I'm good. I'm just going to get some more rest." She replied and I nodded. "Okay. I'll still be here when you wake up so sleep well!" I said and she just nodded and closed her eyes. I looked up at the ceiling as Kyouko dozed off. I can't believe I just admitted that to her! But hearing her say she feels the same way about me makes me happy! Maybe moving to Japan was a great idea after all! I thought myself smiling.
