It was around 5:30 when Keefe, Sandor, and I started walking back to our rendezvous point.
"Well Foster, I've got to say. That. Was. Amazing."
"Keefe, you've said that about literally every single ride we've done so far."
"But it has been true about every single ride we've done so far!" Keefe exclaimed. "Remember when you were scared on the Tower of Terror and I wasn't?"
"I wasn't scared Keefe, I just forgot how high up it goes."
"You were definitely scared Foster. Why else would you hold my hand so tightly on the way down?"
I was NOT going to give him the satisfaction of answering that question. I think he knew the answer anyway though...
"I was glad that we ran into the other group on Thunder Mountain Railroad," I said. "I thought that they would like rollercoasters, I mean, they literally risk their lives to save the world every other week. A fun roller coaster should be no big deal."
"Yeah, but it was kinda your fault for taking them on all the evil rides right when we got here..." Keefe added. I shot him a glare, but then laughed and said, "Yeah, you're right. I know, I'm evil. But it was totally worth it."
"Tower of Terror was definitely my favorite," Keefe said, "but I also really like the Space Mountain ride. It was so dark, and there were so many cool little lights zooming past, and it was AWESOME!"
"I've always liked that one," I agreed. "But explain to me. HOW can you smile perfectly at the camera, Every. Single. Time."
He winked annoyingly at me and didn't answer. I felt kinda bad for Sandor the whole time. He had to put up with Keefe's shenanigans, and I could tell that he HATED roller coasters. He was trailing a little bit behind us, and he looked, well, not good is probably the kindest way to put it.
It wasn't until I finally sat down that I realized how exhausted I was. Keefe must have been too, because he spread out on a different bench and started loudly fake snoring before I smacked him. We had been sitting there for a long time, and the others still hadn't shown up yet. It was starting to get dark, and I didn't want to miss Goofy's kitchen.
"Hey, Keefe," I asked. "Do you think we should try and find the others?"
"Nah, they're fine. Besides, you could just do that weird zoning-out-staring-thingy with Fitz's brain to figure out where they are."
"You mean telepathy?"
"Poe-tay-toe poe-tat-toe."
I rolled my eyes and reached out to Fitz. "Hey, where are you guys? We've been kinda waiting here for a while. You guys alright?"
"SOPHIE thank goodness you reached out. It's Tam. I think he's just been arrested."
I took a moment to gather myself. Not calmly. At all. In fact, I'm pretty sure I kicked the bench really hard because now my foot hurts. Keefe looked over at me concerned, but I put a shushing finger to my mouth and contacted Fitz again.
"Fitz, now I want you to answer me VERY carefully. What. Happened."
"You know, on second thought... that was a joke! Ha ha...?" He must have been able to sense the frustration in my brain. I tried to calm down a little.
"Fitz, if something has happened to Tam, I really need to know."
"Okay, just.. don't get too mad..." That's ironic coming from Fitz, I thought.
