The three friends sat outside of the principal's office, listening to Noah speak to Jackson. Despite her best efforts to stay focused on the conversation, she felt her attention slipping. She felt as though she was being watched. She sat between the two boys but she had the feeling as though the eyes were on her, and her only. Neither, Scott nor Stiles, was the center of attention. It was her, as usual.

"Listen to me-" Selena said to Jackson. "you're telling me that you knew Isaac's father was hitting him?"

Jackson scoffed,"Hitting him? He was kicking the crap out of him." Jackson said. Veronica's eyes narrowed instinctively. Now she did remember something about Isaac Lahey. One night, during her relationship with Jackson, she was leaving his house and seen Isaac's father yelling at him before Isaac rode away on a bike. She felt horrible, she had thought it was just a father son bickering thing. Now, sitting here in realization, she felt even worse..

"Did you ever say anything to anyone? A teacher? Parents? Anyone?" Noah asked Jackson.

"Nope." Jackson shrugged. "It's not my problem."

Selena continued sarcastically,"No. No, of course not. You know, it's funny that the kids getting beaten up are always the ones who least deserve it."

"Yeah." Jackson nodded sentimentally in agreement before he realized what was said,"...Wait, what?"

"I think we're done here." Noah said before they left the office, they spotted the three quickly, though Stiles still attempted to hide behind a magazine. Veronica sighed at him disappointedly and rubbed her temple with her left hand, Scott gave him a exasperated look before smiling at the two police officers, Noah let out a breath before only addressing the two that didn't hide"Hi you two."

"Hey." Veronica said.

"H-- yeah..." Scott said, he truly didn't know what to do with the buzzcut boy sitting next to him. Noah looked at Stiles, who was still hiding behind a magazine and decided he was going to leave it alone and ignore it.

"Boys... Lady..." Veronica looked up at the principal and let out an audible gasp, she tried not to but she couldn't help it. "Come on in."

The three sat next to each other, Veronica in the middle. She waited anxiously for the old man to speak.

He opened Scott's file,"Scott McCall... Academically not the most accomplished, but I see you have become quite the star athlete!" he put it down and went to the next one which was Veronica's,"Veronica Navarro... Academically qualified, maintaining a 4.2 gpa and cheerleader, while managing the lacrosse team on the side. It seems to me that you could get a scholarship in almost anything." Veronica held a proud smirk on her face,"Oh except you missed a few days."

The smile quickly diminished as she tried to explain herself,"I was in the hospital. Near death experi-"

Gerard cut her off and moved onto Stiles, he looked at the name and decided not to attempt how to pronounce it. "Mr. Stilinski... Oh, perfect grades as well, but little to no extracurriculars. Maybe you should try lacrosse?" he suggested.

Stiles also attempted to defend himself,"Oh, actually, I'm already--"

Gerard interrupted him as well,"Hold on... McCall. You're the Scott that was dating my granddaughter."

Scott's response was rather anxious,"We were dating, but not anymore. Not dating, not seeing any of each other, or doing anything with each other at all..."

"Relax, Scott. You look like you're about to crack a cyanide pill with your teeth." Gerard attempted to joke. Veronica let out a wary chuckle.

"Just a hard breakup..." Scott said awkwardly..

"Oh, that's too bad. You seem like a pretty nice kid to me." He said before getting back to why they were sent to the principals office to begin with. "Now, listen, guys. Yes, I am the principal, but I really don't want you to think of me as the enemy."

Stiles didn't buy into the act for a second. "Heh, is that so?" he said looking over at Veronica who hadn't relaxed a muscle since she got into the room.

"However, this being my first day, I do need to support my teachers. So, unfortunately, someone is going to have to take the fall and stay behind for detention."

All eyes fell onto Stiles who wasn't paying attention. Feeling three pairs of eyes on him he looked at at Gerard, then to Veronica and Scott in confusion. Then he turned back to Gerard in disbelief and back to his friends. He couldn't believe that they all unanimously chose him to take the fall. Veronica offered a sympathetic smile. Stiles let out a breath and smacked the arms to his seat with his palm slightly.

"fine." He only agreed because Scott and Veronica were both supernatural, who could easily figure out a way to get Isaac out the holding cell. He just added it to the list of things Veronica owed him.

Veronica and Scott ran through the schools halls to get to the very back of the school. Veronica used a bit of her powers to push the door open so they could exit easily. Though they were both too late. Isaac looked back at them, he locked eyes with Veronica before Noah pulled off. Veronica let out a breath of disappointment as they drove off. She looked at Scott, but instantly looked back as another car pulled up. Derek took off his sunglasses and looked at the two teens.

“Get in.” He said. Veronica went to take a step forward but Scott grabbed the back of her shirt so she couldn't.

“Are you serious? You did that. That's your fault.” Scott said to him, motioning to the leaving cop car, letting go of Veronica in the process.

“I know that.” Derek said. “Now get in the car and help me.”

“No I have a better idea. I'm gonna call a lawyer." Scott said, Veronica have him an odd look. But moved forward as he did. “Because a lawyer might actually have a chance at getting him out before the moon goes up.”

“Not when they do a real search of the house.” Derek said to him.

“What do you mean?” Scott asked.

Derek looked over at Veronica and her shoulders slumped before she said in a defeated voice. “Whatever Jackson said to my aunt and Noah.. what's in that house is worse....  A lot worse.” She didn't give it a second thought before pulling the door handle to the passenger side. She pushed the seat up and looked back at Scott to see if he would get in the back.

He looked at her, she hated the look, it was a mix of betrayal and disbelief. She frowned before he climbed in the back. Veronica pushed the seat back and got inside. She quickly shut the door since Derek had already began to pull off. After the door was shut she tugged her seatbelt on and looked down at her hands. Derek glanced over at her several times to make sure she was still okay.
