6. So Cruel

How could Veronica feel so protective over someone she barely knew. Her and Isaac were simply on first name basis. Though he did come to her when he was turned by Derek. Was his dad already dead when he came to her house? Was that why he was there?

Veronica heard a car coming down the road and quickly cloaked the three of them as they walked inside. The then stood infront of the window and watched as Jackson had a conversation with somebody she didn't really know. She assumed he was a photographer or something. Though mainly because he was lending Jackson a video camera.

"If Isaac didn't kill his father, who did?" Scott asked Derek who was looking out the door window.

"I don't know yet." Derek said quietly.

"Then how do you know he's telling the truth?" Scott asked.

"Because Veronica can sense it. And because I trust my senses to trust hers." Derek said, which made Veronica look away from the window.

"My friends call me Vee." She said as she began to follow them, and going back to the senses,"And it's a combination of them. Not just your sense of smell."

Scott turned around to look at Derek, who gave him a knowing look,"You saw the Lacrosse thing today."

"Yeah." Derek said nodding his head.

"Did it look that bad?" he asked again.

Derek grabbed Scott's shoulder and leaned in slightly, before saying in a quiet voice,"Yeah."

"What do you think your doing?" a voice asked suddenly which caused Veronica and Scott to jump. They all turned around and seen Selena staring at them, accusingly.

Veronica put a hand to her chest and let out a breath. "You scared me, Tia." Veronica said.

"Sorry sweetheart." She then turned fully to Derek. "You made me come here when I was supposed to be watching your little beta so this better be good, Hale." She said to him, looking the blue eyed boy up and down as she did so.

"We're teaching Scott a little bit about his senses." Derek said. He then opened the door and they all looked down into the basement as Scott shined a light. "You wanna learn? Let's start now."

Veronica pushed the erie feeling out of her body and was the first to descend down the staircase. "What's down there?" Scott asked as he followed after her.

"Motive." Selena said to them.

"And what am I looking for?" Veronica asked as she took a step off the last step.

"Follow your senses." Derek said.

She looked around the dark room for any negative energy. It was harder because there was a lot. Though one thing stuck out the most to her. Her eyes landed on a freezer. She began to make her way over to it.

"What happened down here?" Scott asked.

"The kind of thing that leaves an impression." Derek said as Veronica's hand reached out to touch it.

It was glowing to her. Actually glowing a dark negative red that gave her the chills. And what she sensed when her hand actually touched it wasn't any better. It was worse.

She hadn't noticed Scott was by her side until he touched the lock. A bright light shined in both of their faces making Scott jump again and look up at Derek and Selena.

"Open it." Derek said. Veronica shook her head, but her hand had an other idea as she took out the lock and lifted the lid.

She gasped and covered her mouth as she looked at all the claw marks on the inside and on the lid. She and Scott were horrified. She backed away and shook her head again whilst pointed at the freezer. "That is cruel... How could someone do such a thing so someone who seems so nice." She said, feeling a headache coming on. “How could you do that to your own child. I-i don't understand. Why?”

"This is why he said yes to you." Scott said.

"Everyone wants power." Derek said so simply.

"If we help you. Then you have to stop. You can't just go around turning people into werewolves." Scott said.

"I can if they're willing." Derek rebuttaled.

"Did you tell Isaac about the argents? About being hunted?" Scott asked.

"Yes. And he still asked." Derek answered honestly.

"Then he's an idiot."

Veronica had no reason to feel offended. But she still nodded her head when Selena said,"And you're the idiot dating argent's daughter."

Scott looked at Derek who wasn't shocked at all,"Yeah. We know your little secret. And if we know, how long do you think it's gonna take for them to find out." Derek said. "You saw what happens to an Omega. With me, you will learn how to use all your senses. With me, you learn control. Even on a full moon." Derek said, holding up Scott's hand that shown his claws coming out.

Scott looked at his hand and then forced Derek's hand off, "If I'm with you, I lose her."

"You're gonna lose her anyway." he shut the freezer door. "You know that." he then turned to walk away, Selena following him out.

"Wait." Scott said which made the two immediately turn around. "I'm not part of your pack." he then looked at Veronica,"But I want him out. He's my responsibility too."

"Why?" Selena asked him. "Because he's one of us?" She asked referring to the supernaturals.

"Because he's innocent."

Veronica looked down at her phone which started ringing. Everyone turned to look at her and she chuckled nervously,"It's Stiles." She said before answering the phone. "What."

"Hey. I just got out of detention. Where are you?"

"At Isaac's... With Scott, Selena.. and Derek." She said as she looked away from everyone.

"What? Why are you at Isaac's. And why are you with Derek?" Stiles said.

Veronica smiled. "honestly Stiles. You should work on getting rid of that hostility. Look. Isaac is Derek's beta. And no offense, but you and Scott don't really know what you're doing. I'm slightly better than you guys. But Derek and Selena have been in this their entire lives. So I gotta say... I'm with Derek on this one. We need him." She shot Scott a look. "Anyways. Can you come and pick us up? I have a plan." she then hung up on the boy before he can even answer.

"You have to leave." Scott said to her.

"Don't flatter yourself. I could take you." Veronica said to ease the tension. "But I do have to leave... I have to help Derek.." she said. "Don't hurt yourself, alright?" she whispered. She pulled him into a hug before letting go and following Derek and Selena out the basement.
