Calix
"You're going to bore a hole through Kari's face with that stare, Calix." How does even know I'm staring? I was currently wearing my black Versace aviator sunglasses and laid down comfortably in my rattan beach chair—placed a few metres from the shore underneath the palm trees—with both my hands under my head like a pillow. If anyone would see me right now, they'll think I'm sleeping since I'm awfully quiet yet he instantly knew what I was doing.
Elliot the always Idiot really had to painstakingly blow my cover and said that out loud as he was seated right beside me while sipping his pina colada in his Hawaiian shirt and chino shorts. I played dumb and continued what I was doing even if he was annoyingly sipping his drink like a kid playing with a straw.
We're currently in the Hamptons, in one of Elliot's family resthouses located by the beach, where they'll have their wedding. It's only a week away from their big day so the entire entourage is encouraged to stay together in the estate. Although it's a weekday and I'm not exactly supposed to be here, I still found myself coming to this place because of her.
I can never lose the opportunity to see Karina a few feet away from me. I've been literally keeping track of her since two nights ago. The night that I acted like a fucking wimp for the first time. But do I regret it? Heck, no. It's a good tactic to at least get on her good graces and appear like a nice guy.
She's currently playing with a bunch of kids--three of them from different ethnicities--like their babysitter and running near the shore. She was wearing a black short-sleeved one piece that's like her second skin and it's making me lose my mind. Even if she wasn't wearing anything that revealing since she was covered up pretty nicely, her long thick legs is giving life to my lower half as she sauntered like a model.
"Dude, didn't I say that the maid of honour is off-limits?" Did he just read my mind? If he did, he'd know that I don't give a fuck about their rules. "My wife's going to kill me if she finds out that you're planning to make Kari your next prey." She's not your wife yet, but you look afraid of her already. What a weakling. Plus, Karina is more than prey that I'd like to conquer, dude. I wouldn't exactly be this obsessed over someone for practically a year just to fuck them for one night.
"Calix man, just pick someone else. Anyone but Kari please." I ignored Elliot's incessant begging and the way he calls her name so casually. I just kept my eyes on Karina who's now making sandcastles with the kids under a big rainbow-coloured umbrella. Does she know that the mere sight of her smiling a bit and having fun makes me feel weak in my knees? What the damn hell is she doing to me?
But looking at her now, I can finally understand why my men can't find her since her entire look went a complete 180. From her previous black long hair, it's now shorter and bleached. She also lost a ton of weight as she appears leaner and more toned now but either way, she's still pretty as fuck.
Her shiny bronze skin and dark brown eyes remain the same except that her gaze seems out of life as if someone extinguished the flames of her fiery spirit. I should have buried her ex myself if I knew that she'd be broken like this.
"Calix, are you listening—"
"Shut up, Elliot. I heard you the first time." His voice is annoying me and the men staring at the other side looking at my Karina—who are these bastards?—is fueling my wrath. I want to pluck those eyeballs and offer them as shark food.
"So you'll stop targetting Kari?" As if I would.
"Hot chicks alert!" What is it now? My brows furrowed when three women in revealing two-piece triangle designed swimsuits that barely covered their tits and ass started making their way towards us.
