I heard my mother's voice echo downstairs as she called my name. It soothed me because the silence in the house other than the dogs' barks are getting lonely.

" Honey there you are! Your father told me you were here so I decided to leave all the townspeople with him." Mom told me.

She loved teasing dad even if they were married for 30+ years. And that involves suddenly hiding or running away from him.

She always said that I got my antisocial nature from dad, but I feel like she's just saying that to make me feel better since my condition was worse.

" Goodmorning mama." I greeted. She cupped my face and gave my cheek a kiss. Honestly sometimes she gets overly affectionate. " Did you pick a room?"

I nodded. Suddenly Teacup ran downstairs and was jumping around mom in circles. " Teacup!!"

Sometimes I wonder if she loved the dog more than me. " Alright then! Starting now let's unpack the living room. Cecille?!" mom then waltzed outside as she called our one and only maid. She was very nice and I've known her since I was seven. Cecille came running in the door with five boxes stacked on her hands. I grabbed two and shyly smiled at her.

" Oh hello Y/N! Thanks so much." she thanked. " Y/N don't you wanna explore the town? It's a very nice place. Though I'm not forcing you!"

" Cecille you can walk with her if you'd like! I still have to call the other carriages for the living room furniture." M/N's voice echoed behind us.

I had no other choice but to agree. Bracing myself as me and Cecille went into town I immediately broke into cold sweat. She was holding my hand so she can tell. But part of her didn't seem to want to worry me because she brushed it off quickly.

" Oh my it's Isabela Madrigal." Cecille chorused. I looked up to find a woman dressed in colorful floral clothing with different colors, and straight hair that looked like it as powdered by the colors of a rainbow. She was sprouting cacti and different more exotic plants around the village. That explains why it seemed so colorful.

" While I was fixing some stuff over with Coachman Henry I heard some information about a Madrigal family. I heard they've got gifts. And by gifts it's superpowers!" Cecille whispered into my ear. " Y/N maybe you can befriend Isa! You have the same interests when it comes to plants!"

I shook my head in panic.
" A pretty girl like that that's loved by the entire town? No I doubt it." I thought.

Seeing Cecille pout made me a little guilty. I remember the times during events that she'd try to get me a bestfriend, approaching the other kids snd trying to get me to join them. But my legs never moved. I really can't speak or form words around people like that so casually.

Now that I'm 15 the guilt only grew. Because when you're old enough and there are people talking to you and you don't respond, you are labeled as a rude child. At least that's what my aunt said to me one time.

Suddenly a lightbulb appeared on Cecille's head before she turned back to me.

" Y/N...what if you write letters instead?"

4:30 PM, in my new bedroom with a paper and feather with ink, I took Cecille's advice and was left in the empty space with my thoughts.

And a soon to be letter on my desk.

I don't know what I could write. I don't even know where to start. Conversations were not my forte either so how am I supposed to project one in a letter. I can fe the burning embarrassment in my cheeks as the hand shook. I had to write something somehow.
