"Can I court you?" He asked.

"I'm sorry, Vince, but you know that-"

"Study first?"

"Magagalit sila mama sakin. Ang alam nila ay magkaibigan lang tayo." I tried to explain.

"I know, Anne. I can wait for you."

"You're college now. I think pwede na?"

"What do you mean?" I ask as if I don't know his talking about.

"Anne, can I court you now?" Puno ng pag-asang tanong niya.

"Vince, I'm so-"

"It's ok. I can wait." Putol niya sa sasabihin ko. I saw the pain in his eyes. I don't want to hurt him, ayoko lang talagang pag-usapan ito sa ngayon. Wala pa akong oras sa mga ganyan.

5 years later and I graduated as cum laude.

I saw Vince.

"Hey, you didn't attend to my graduation, why?" I asked. Wala kase siya, ilang week na rin kaming di nag-uusap at nagkikita.

"I'm sorry, I was just busy." He said.

"Oh I see. So, can we go out? My treat haha."

"Sorry pero may pupuntahan kase ako ngayon. Sa susunod na lang." Anito.

"It's that so? Okay, then." I smiled.

"Babe, halikana."

Napalingon ako sa babaeng sumigaw and I saw a beautiful face of a girl.

"I'm sorry, babe. May kinausap lang ako." Ani Vince. Napalingon ako sa kanya.

"Who's that babe?" The girl asked.

"Just a friend." Ani Vince, "Babe, she's Anne, my friend since we're high school. Anne, this is my girlfriend, Thea."

"Hi, Anne, nice to meet you." Masayang ani Thea.

"H-hello, N-nice to meet you t-too." We shared hands.

I look at him, nag iwas ito ng tingin. "C-concrats senyo, Vince." I greet and smile bitterly.

"Babe, mauna kana don, wait for me ok? I just talk to her muna." Vince smile at her.

"Ok then."

"S-so, kailan pa?" I asked.

"Last month." He answered.

"I-I thought you'll wait for me." I said full of pain.

"I waited, Anne. Pero napagod ako. Ilang beses akong humingi ng permiso but you always-"

"Dahil di pa ako ready, Vince." I shouted, "I thought y-you can... you can wait, but you betrayed me." Pinigilan kong tumulo ang luha ko pero diko nagawa dahil kusa itong pumatak ng sunod sunod.

"I'm sorry, Anne. You deserve someone better."

"Then be better for me, Vince."

"I can't."

"You said, you like me"

"I liked you but I love her." He said and walk away from me.

Those words broke my heart into pieces.

Bakit ngayon pa? Bakit ngayon pang mahal ko na rin siya?

"Bakit ka napagod, Vince? Samantalang hindi ka pa naman nagsisimula" I whispered in the air.

Umasa ako. He said, he can wait but he lied.
