"This is, by far, the single stupidest idea I've ever gone along with," you grumbled.

"What do ya mean?" Mikey asked, coming to sit down next to you on the ground and you glared at him.

"What do I mean? Camping! I hate it! I don't know how you talked me into coming along on this trip. It's cold, it's damp, everyone is like making out with someone. I can't even believe you wanted to go camping!"

Mikey shrugged. "I dunno, I like it once in a while. And they're our friends so I thought it'd be fun, but yea it's kinda awkward."

"Make it up to me," you said, turning to look at him."Make what?" He almost choked on the words.

"Make it up to me. How about you make me a s'more and tell me a story?"

"Oh," he laughed, "yea ok. What kind of story do you wanna hear? A scary one?" He asked as he grabbed a marshmallow from the bag and stuck it on the end of a stick.

"No! I'm gonna have enough trouble sleeping out here, I don't wanna think there's a psycho killer coming after me too!"

Mikey laughed. "Ok, umm... I think I got it," he said as he finished roasting the marshmallow and placed it between the graham crackers and chocolate and handing it to you. "Once upon a time-"

"Seriously?" You laughed.

"Would you prefer 'hook hand car door'?"

"Nope! Go on!" You squeeked.

"Ok, so like I was saying, once upon a time there was a princess. She was very beautiful, but she never realized it, she just happily lived her life. Many suitors tried to impress her, but none of them were able to win her affection as they were not worthy of her.

"Then one day, a lonely knight rode into town. He saw the princess and was immediately smitten. To his surprise, she noticed him as well and started to talk to him. She made him feel special for the first time in a very long time."

You started to think about his words. You had mentioned to Mikey before that you had guys who tried to talk to you or ask you out, but you weren't interested in any of them. What you hadn't mentioned to Mikey was that he was the reason you didn't want to go out with anyone else. You were constantly trying to work up the courage to ask him out.

"One day the princess was on a journey with the royal court, but found herself stranded in the middle of the woods. As night fell, the princess was cold and alone until suddenly she heard a noise. Under the light of a half moon, the knight found the princess."

You looked up and saw the moon was half full above you, then you looked back at Mikey. He was staring ahead at the fire. "Then what happened?"

"The knight comforted her and told her that he was there to rescue her, that he'd keep her safe that night, and every night if she'd let him. She asked him why, and he confessed that it was because he loved her," he answered, looking back at you. "Based on a true story."

"I can't tell if you're being sarcastic," you said softly, your cheeks starting to heat up.

"(YN), do you have the slightest idea of how fucking important you are to me?" He said, sounding a little exasperated.

You shook your head. "I don't think I ever realized because I was too busy telling myself there was no way you felt the same way about me."

Now it was Mikey's turn to look at you wide-eyed. "Really?"

"Would you really be my knight in shining armor?" You asked, sliding closer to Mikey.

"I'd love to be," he said leaning in. Your lips met his, the taste of sugary sweet marshmallows and chocolate mixed with the smell of campfire forever etching in your memory of this perfect moment. "I love you (YN)," he said when you pulled back.

"I love you too Mikey," you replied with a smile. He wrapped his arms snugly around you and pulled you close as you watched the campfire in front of you. Maybe camping wasn't so bad after all.
