Maybe it wouldn't have been so fun if this whole bullshit hadn't happened, but it didn't make anything less annoying. To make things worse, I didn't—still don't—know if the whole observation was regarding how I had just gotten in the gang a few weeks before or if Party really had some sort of fixation over me.

A soft exhale escaped my lips as I stopped sweeping the floor to look over at them, stupidly hunched over the counter across the diner—their smile didn't even falter nor did it change, stretching across their pretty face with an unspoken pleasure, but somehow, their amusement noticeably grew with how I looked back at them, even if they didn't move a single muscle. Sometimes I wondered if the radiation was making me go crazy.

"I'll only let you continue there if you help me clean." I furrowed my eyebrows, silently hoping Jet or Kobra would be somewhere near because they always seemed to sense when Poison is being nerve-wracking and quickly manage to distract them with something else.

"Aw, c'mon, I'm not even bothering you." Poison rolled their eyes with a sigh, rolling their shoulders as they finally proved themself not to be an illusion. "'Was just observing how the broom is almost taller than you. Like, do you need a hand holding it?" It just knocked the whole life out of me, making me groan softly as I rested my head against the stick of the broom, almost grimacing at hearing them snicker. "Don't you look so cute when frustrated?"

"I hate you." I shook my head while I resumed the sweeping, a little more motivated at noticing there wasn't much more of the room left.

"Sure!" A chuckle echoed through the room. "Lucky you that I like you, then. Or else I could crush you in a second. You're small, I'm often afraid that I'm going to break you whenever we hug! Or that I'll lose you in the middle of the sand! 'Can't have you leaving the diner so often!"

"You don't even hug me, Party!" I scoffed, scooping up the dirt in a small shovel to get it in a plastic bag just until I could discard it outside. Not like the plastic or actual trash wasn't removed before, so it was resumed to the sand and dust that either gets in with the wind or sticks on our boots and clothes. "And stop. Why don't you go find Ghoul to tease her or something?"

"He isn't so fun." They shook their head with a sigh. "Nor is it as short as you, so..." They trailed off with a chuckle even if I didn't look their way this time, only heading to the front door to throw the sand and dust out, and half-frustratedly watched some specs of dust flying under the sunlight that slipped in through the door. "Careful not to disappear in the middle of the sand! You're really useful for the gang, but I'm not sure if I'd go as far as looking for you out there."

"You can just explicitly say you hate me, y'know?" I raised an eyebrow at them, shooing them away from the counter to grab the cloth that was usually under it. "I wouldn't get offended."

"But I wouldn't lie to you." Poison smiled, breath fanning over my skin due to how close they were, but they were gone within a second, finally giving me some peace to dust the place in peace.

It was for dinner that all of us were once again gathered in the diner, as far as possible from one of the faltering lights, and while Kobra and Ghoul insisted that I should have piled up with them in one of the booth's sides, I preferred to continue standing up rather than to sit next to the messy duo while Party... Well, they didn't even give me a fucking opportunity to sit next to them even if Jet did tell them to sit down and scoot over. They just kept standing up and sitting down all the time and, while it was understandable, sometimes I would want to hit them across the head with a metal bar—I secretly still do. Either way, I decided just to grab a stool and set it down on the end of the table.
