On a chair with a desk filled with paperwork in front, sits a beautiful lady with royal blue hair. The office is located on the second floor of the castle and is quite simple, bearing only the necessities save for the few paintings hanging on the walls.

The woman kept on writing on the papers but stopped when she heard laughter coming from outside the balcony window. She turned her head towards the source and saw a child with deep-red hair making snowmen, and later on throwing snowballs with three men who had the same royal blue colored hair as her.

She watched them while smiling gently before she proceeded with her work.

~Esther's P.O.V.~

Today is the last day of the year. Those who went for battle have returned. Fortunately, nobody died.

It was a wonderful miracle. Everybody is prepared for casualties since the enemy is too strong. That is why everyone who joined the brigade left with the conviction that they may not return to their families and steeled their resolve.

She remembered the man responsible for such a miraculous result. When she saw him on the video communication device covered in blood while fighting the Lion Dragon, her heart ached.

When he stabbed himself in the heart, she felt her own heart drop and her arm throb. She was only able to regain her senses when she felt her son holding her hand tightly while looking at her in concern.

She also remembered the time her dear son cried. The first time her son cried with such sorrow her heart broke. Her dear son wrapped his little arms around her neck as she held him in her arms once the brigade flew away. The child did not cry in front of them, instead, he smiled brightly at them, gave each a hug, and made them promise their return.

She knew. She knew how her son was much more intelligent than kids his age. How can she not know, she is his mother? Even so, she loves him all the same. And she is so proud to have such an intelligent and caring son.

Peacocks, along with the owls, are more known for their intelligence than their strength, however, her son demonstrated a level of intellect that did not fit his age even for a peacock and an owl known for it. And that is why she knew that her son was hiding his sadness while saying goodbye to the brigade. And as his mother, it is her job to look after her son who chose to suffer in silence and let the brigade not worry about him.

She then remembered the conversation she had with her brothers, three days after Alex was born.

"Esther, Alexander's blessed by the Gods. I can feel divine auras on him. This is quite shocking. For a being to receive this much attention from gods... I believe it has something to do with his father. It was that man, right? The hailed hero and commander of Roan?"
