Chapter 9: A Golden Infinity

Esther coughed when her memory reached that part of their meeting. She fanned herself as she felt the room suddenly went hot.

She forcefully stirred her thoughts in a different direction, which made her remember what Cale said before she finally left a few days later. (She called her brothers and informed them of the sudden situation. They smirked at her and said that they'd take care of Alexander.)

'He said he will definitely meet Alex after everything's over.'

Cale looked sorry and conflicted at that time.

'Our enemies are everywhere, we can't risk our vulnerable child.'

He looked determined to finish everything to see his son.

'I wonder if he told the others. Maybe to those he fully trusts. I want to see their reactions when they learn that Cale's unlike what they thought of him. Can't blame them with how dense that guy is.'

Esther snickered at her thoughts. She shook her head to focus on her task at hand.

'In a few days, Alex's hatching will begin. All preparations are complete. Others can't know that he will be hatching soon. What else should I do...?'

She started to check everything again and again. Mistakes aren't allowed as her son's safety is on the line.

When night arrived, Alex ate his meal and prepared for bed. His three uncles stood as his mother sat beside him on the bed.

"Alex dear, tell us if you feel weird, ok? Mother will be sleeping beside you, wake me up if you do, alright dear?"

Mother said as she tucks me to bed.

"Yes, Mama! Alex understands!"

"You don't have to worry, Little Alex. This favorite uncle will protect you." Brent said.

"Why are you the favorite uncle? It is obviously me! Isn't that right, my dear nephew?" Logan immediately countered.

"Hah?!? Alex dearest, Uncle Ethan is your favorite right?" Of course, Ethan won't let them take such a precious title.

Esther deadpanned at her older brothers. Was this really the time for their petty fights?

"Please be quiet. My son is about to sleep. We can't have him losing his sleep due to the noise, hmm?" She said with a very gentle smile.

Her smile caused the three to flinch and immediately clamp their mouths shut.

They wouldn't want her ire to befall them.

A cute voice cut off the stifling silence.

"Alex thinks Uncwe Brent, Uncwe Logan, and Uncwe Ethan awe the best! That is why Alex is sad when uncwes fight because of Alex." Alex said with a very sad tone, causing the three males to panic.

"W-we're not fighting, Al!"

"Right! right!"

"...you wewen't..?"

"Yes!"

"Then, Alex is gwad!" Alex said with a very bright and sweet smile, causing his uncles to clutch their hearts.
