"Colt..." you whisper. You open your eyes, seeing a bright light.
"Colt... he's bleeding..."
"Y/n? Are you awake?" You hear Eren's voice ask.
"Awake..." you softly say, your eyes trying to focus.
"AWAKE?" You jolt up, realizing you're in a laying position.
"What am I doing? Where am I?"

"Hey, careful! Don't get up so fast!" Eren calls out. Your brain is fuzzy and your vision is blurry.
"Eren? Where...?"
"You're at the hospital. Please, lay back down." Eren says. You shake your head, trying to get rid of your confusion.
"What the hell is going on?" you think to yourself.
"Did I... get shot?" Your vision gets less blurry and Eren comes into view.
"Did I get shot? Why am I here?"
"Shot?" Eren repeats, tilting his head.
"No. You fainted when you saw Colt. Do you not remember?"

"I fainted?" you ask. Eren nods.
"Like, almost immediately after you saw him."
"Why am I at the hospital for that?"
"Cuz you hit your head on some ice. I wanted to make sure you didn't have a concussion or something." Eren replies, rubbing the back of his head.
"Turns out it wasn't really that serious, you just knocked yourself out a bit." You smile as you shake your head.

"You worry too much, Jaeger."
"Yeah, yeah." Eren mumbles.
"I'd rather be safe than sorry. You could've totally gotten a concussion, you know. So, you're feeling fine?"
"Yeah, just feeling a bit fuzzy." you respond.
"But... Colt..."

"He's lucky." Eren says.
"The bullet went right through his chest, and literally just missed his heart. I'm pretty sure he's still being operated on, I haven't heard anything about him in a while."
"A while? What time is it?" you ask.
"Almost four."
"In the morning?!"
"Yeah." Eren says. He brings his chair closer to the bed. Now that he's closer, you can tell how tired he looks. Recently, Eren has been looking very worn out, like he hasn't had a proper sleep in weeks.

"Have you been awake this whole time?"
"Yeah, what else would I be doing?" Eren responds, laughing a bit. He gives a you a gentle smile, taking his fingers and moving strands of hair away from your face.
"I've been out of it for this long?"
"Yeah, you banged your head pretty good, you were bleeding a bit, but nothing major."
"Jesus, I should be more careful."
"I'm glad you're okay, though. Zeke said once you wake up you should be fine to leave, unless you wanna stay to hear anything about Colt." Eren says.
"Well... I do feel like going to lay in bed. Not a hospital bed, your bed." you say. Eren smiles.
"Let's go home, then."

Eren sleepily gets out of his chair, putting his arm around you and helping you off of the hospital bed. He walks you out into the hallway, down into the waiting room. You see Pieck, asleep on Porco's shoulder, along with two kids asleep beside Porco, and Marcel. Marcel gives you a small wave as you and Eren walk closer to them.

"Who are the kids?" you quietly ask.
"Colt's brother, Falco, and his friend Gabi." Eren whispers. You make an O shape with your mouth and nod.
"Have you guys been here the entire time, too?"
"Yeah, basically." Porco quietly responds.
"We're waiting to hear word on Colt. Everyone else has gone home, which is the more logical thing to do at four AM. Is that where you two are going now?"
"Yeah, I'm exhausted." Eren yawns.

"We'll let you guys know if we hear anything
about Colt." Marcel says, smiling.
"Thanks for staying." Eren replies.
"Well, not much of a choice with the kids and Pieck being asleep." Porco quietly laughs.
"I hope he recovers." you say.
"Fingers crossed." Marcel replies, lifting his hand in the air and crossing his fingers.

You climb into Eren's passenger seat. It's dark outside, but the clouds sweep over any star in the sky. Eren yawns as he pulls out of the hospital parking lot, his hand resting on your thigh.
"So what happened while I was knocked out?" you ask as Eren drives.
"Honestly, nothing overly important. I drove Colt to the hospital, along with you of course, and Pieck, Porco and Marcel came with me. Levi and Erwin tried to find the shooter." Eren replies.
