It'd been a lot for Papyrus to take in, finding out he had a brother. A brother that'd saved him from the horrors that could have happened and had happened to him. Naturally he told everyone.  "Wait, wait, wait, wait- your this 2-P guy that Sans keeps mentioning?" Undyne asked. "YES. I KNOW, I AM STILL REELING MYSELF.." Alphys adjusted her glasses. "I-I mean... i-it does m-make sense. S-seeing a-as you ARE the only o-other living s-skeleton. If y-you want p-paper proof, I-I can always t-take you to m-my lab. I have b-been meaning t-to pin Sans e-exact age a-anyways.." Frisk looked at Alphys. "You haven't done that yet? It's been 8 months!" They all looked to the silent skeleton who'd been following the entire conversation. He didn't blame Papyrus for needing proof, it was quite the claim and he'd didn't really know his age either. He'd never celebrated his creation day and time was servely hard to tell, being down there for all that time. "let's do it." Sans agreed with a small nod.

So the group went to the lab. Being stuck in a lab a his entire lab, he knew every instrument, every tool. He knew what did what, and how to work it all. "O-ok so, uh, I'm... can skeletons even g-give DNA?" Papyrus shrugged, unsure he'd never done this before. "yes. through reproductive means and through magic. i'll be the example." Alphys handed Sans the tube, unsure if she should have expected Sans to be the willing guena pig or be shocked by it. He found a swap stick and stabbed his mouth, before sticking it in the tube. It was thick with blue saliva. "skeletons don't have blood, but we do have saliva, bone marrow, or magic that can be tested. when dating my age, i suggest taking a little bit of my marrow. it will be the easiest way." That was the longest sentence that wasn't back story that they heard come from the skeleton. "Oh wow, you're a nerd?"
"i did grow up in a lab. i know things." Sans confirmed. "W-won't that h-hurt though?" Alphys asked. "only briefly." Sans was accustomed to pain. This would be nothing if only a small bit of mercy compared to it all.

Papyrus was swapped and now they were awaiting results. It would be a good week, so they moved straight to figuring out how old Sans was. He did wince when he saw it, nore did he flinch when it was inserted into his femur. This would take only a few hours. "How old do you think you are, Sans?" Frisk asked while they were waiting. "likely my late 20s, early 30s. somewhere around there." Sans replied. They tilted their head. You and Papyrus must have been born pretty far apart then. He's turning 19 in a few months. Sans took mental note of that. That was valuable information to Sans. He wanted to know more about Papyrus. He had obviously grown up healthy, seeing how tall he was, and strong too, Sans could feel it through Papyrus soul. He was very kind and nurturing, which meant he'd been well cared for. It was the best life Sans could have hoped for for his little brother. Plus there was all this monster, and the human, who genuinely cared for him as a friend. Indeed, Papyrus had gotten the best a monster could out of life.

"Sans, y-you are 27 and 3 m-months old. I-it seems w-we missed your birthday... s-sorry." Sans didn't really care though. "nine years apart, hm? not the worst." So he'd been 9 when he'd escaped with Papyrus. He was 9 when they last parted. "it's fine, at least now i know." They looked at him. He didn't know his own birthday? No, no he didn't. "So... wanna have a cook off and anime night?" Undyne asked. Everyone answered in a choir of "YES!!!" Sans didn't know what it was and just went with it.
