It's been a couple of months since they confirmed Sans and Papyrus were brothers. Sans had his own bed now, which to Papyrus disappointment, Sans never made. The skeleton had been making a lot of progress though. He still didn't ask questions or give opinions but he could express himself. His voice wasn't dead or monotonous anymore. One could actually hear when he was happy or sad or confused. A giant step forward in Papyrus opinion. It was another of multiple cooking and anime nights that Sans had been subjected to. Frisk had gotten a complex rubiks cube. Sans was watching them try to solve it, but they were struggling. He remembered having to solve something similar. He supposed it was a rubiks cube too. A more traditional one than this. He was fairly sure he could solve it... but he wanted Frisk to get it first. So he went to check on Undyne and Papyrus. The two were cooking competitively, nothing unusual there. Alphys was cheering her girlfriend on while Toriel cheered for Papyrus. Sans watched them for a bit. "H-hey Sans, how are you?" Alphys asked. "i am well. wanna try something later." Alphys looked curious. "What?"
"the cube." Toriel smiled though she knew better. Sans wouldn't ask.🤍🤍🤍
Frisk was still trying to solve it when the anime part of the night started. They were getting close, Sans could see. He was getting eager. He really wanted to try it himself. 'Just a few episodes longer..' He decided, turning to the television. He was mentally preparing himself for... he didn't know what himself. He'd learned that the doctor couldn't hurt him anymore and nobody here wanted to. He could...he looked back at Frisk who had finally solved it. "Look mom!"
"Great job, my child, we will have to find you a harder one now." Toriel praised. "can i try?" The show was paused immediately as they thought they were going crazy. "Um... could you please repeat that?" Frisk asked. Sans hesitated before repeating himself. It was harder with all the attention suddenly drawn to him.. "c-can i try... your rubiks cube..?"
"Holy shi-" Alphys and Toriel covered Undyne's mouth while Frisk and Papyrus beamed. "Sure." Frisk handed Sans the cube, which he happily stated to toy with. Sans was a happy skeleton for the time being who'd just taken a giant leap forward asking that single question.🤍🤍🤍
Sans always took a walk before bed. It helped him feel... free. He didn't so much like being cooped up anymore. So a quick walk around the block and he was ok to sleep- He noticed a free box. But what had his attention was some items in the free box. A pair of fuzzy, worn, pink slippers. Knowing Sans and fuzzy things, he ditched the non comfortable shoes for the heavenly slippers, smiling contently. It was a good night and he was feeling rather proud of himself for asking a question. He was looking forward to asking more in the future.
🤍🤍🤍
He was asked about the slippers immediately in the morning. "noticed them in a free box on my walk, i had to have them." Sans replied, kicking his feet gently. "feels so comfortable, like walking on clouds." Sans REALLY liked the slippers. Almost as much as he LOVED the jacket. "WHAT CAN I SAY. SANS LIKES COMFORTABLE THINGS." Papyrus defended. "I can respect that." Undyne held up her hands. "What's next? A change in pants?" Sans looked down at the standard issue jeans and shrugged. "maybe."
