"I know this is late, but congratulations on the victory of the war, Your Majesty," they raised their glasses and took a sip of wine.

The Emperor's regal laugh reverberated through the walls as he sat drinking with Marquis Antheo Leventis. "You're as tardy as ever. Even back in our academy days, you were always the last to offer congratulations or greet me," he chuckled. He swirled his glass, toying with the wine.

"Well, I hope you understand, Your Majesty. I simply prioritize what's truly important," Antheo replied.

"Are you suggesting that the Emperor isn't important? Should I hang your head in front of the capital right now?" the Emperor playfully threatened him, a smirk on his face.

"That's not what I meant... but if the day ever comes when you plan to do so, pakiusap, itapon mo an lang ng palihim ang katawan ko sa gubat at ipakain ako sa hayop. I don't want my family to see me still pitiful even at my last breath. " Antheo said, leaving the Emperor unsure if his friend was serious or not.

"Hindi ka na talaga nag-bago, Antheo. Mahina ka pa rin pagdating sa pamilya mo." nailing na tawa ito.

"I'll take that as a compliment, Your Majesty," the marquis replied, and they raised their glasses once more and toasted.

Napailing na lang ito sa kaibigan. "Do you know why I called you in here?" the emperor asked, getting straight to business.

He wanted to lie and say no, but he knew the emperor was sharp and he couldn't fool him. Marquis Antheo sighed. "Yes, I do, Your Majesty."

"Well, that makes things easier." The emperor placed his glass down on the table and looked seriously at his friend, reading his expressions. "Don't worry, I simply want to know how your daughter is. Although, I understand that you were just trying to protect her, kaya hindi mo sinabi sa akin ang tungkol sa kaniyang awakening. But I won't overlook the thought that maybe you are not as loyal to the royal family as I think you are." his voice was serious, and the marquis knew there was a hint of anger in his tone.

Tumayo ito at saka lumuhod. "I hope you can forgive me, your majesty. Itinago ko lamang 'yon para hindi pag-piyestahan ang aking anak lalo na't mahina at may sakit pa rin siya. Sana ay huwag ninyong pagdudahan ang aking katapatan sa Evigheden." his voice is imploring, still on his knees.

"You are well aware that this revelation could greatly enhance the reputation of your family name. Sa nag-daang apat na henerasyon ng iyong pamilya, it is only now, through your daughter, that the power of the greatest sorceress of the Ardotalia Empire has been bestowed. Before that, your family's name had experienced humiliation and discrimination, Marquis." The emperor's use of the marquis's title conveyed his seriousness. "You see how your wife endures everything, do you not?" he asked.

He pursed his lips when he remembered his wife. "I understand, Your Majesty, but I humbly implore you to give me a small amount of time."

Sandaling hindi sumagot ang Emperor. It was the first time he had seen his friend in such a vulnerable state. "Tsk, you created your own weakness, Antheo." tinungga nito ang wine na kaninang iniinom. "Very well. I shall turn a blind eye for now. Ngunit hindi ito dapat manatiling itago nang matagal sa mundo. You are well aware of the abilities of the Leventis bloodline and undoubtedly understand the benefits it can bring to the empire."
