THERE WAS A MISTAKE WHERE CHAPTER TEN WAS POSTED AS THE NINE - THIS ONE IS THE TEN, THE NINE IS BEEN POSTED.

HELEEN

Pekka Rollins was going to be the very last target.

Heleen had no idea they were coming, but she'd know soon enough, after all the Wraith was more than supportive to help them against her, gathering so much information with the help of sweet Deepika, a Suli woman that had gotten into her crew and soon enough into her heart, that even Kaz was surprised with the swiftness of her work.

"Heleen doesn't stay at the Menagerie anymore," Deepika told Kaz in his office, Laura sitting on his table with Inej and Deepika standing in front of them. She said a few words in Suli as if trying to think of a way to translate it – 'random', whispered Inej. "She comes once a month, random days," she added.

Inej smiled, proud of her Kerch. Her girlfriend was smart, she knew, she had wonderful Ravkan and even could hold a basic conversation in Shu, but Kerch was not her strongest suit. She had been learning quickly, however, eager to be able to talk to Inej's friends, whom she had not met before, only heard about.

"That complicates the situation," Kaz groaned.

"Not completely," Inej said.

Laura raised her eyebrows.

"What do you mean?" the Ravkan asked once Inej didn't answer straight away.

"I found her," said Deepika. "She's been staying at Reiberg."

"Reiberg?" Laura asked, more confused than before.

"It's a very small town, 23 miles away from here, on the complete opposite direction to where you live," Kaz explained. "Reiberg has been planting rice for years, most of the people there are Ravkan immigrants and Zemini, though there's been a great amount of Shu-Han popping up as well."

"What do you mean by that?" Laura asked, eyes narrowing in suspicion.

"It means that if you show up and try to lure her away and Heleen doesn't recognize you straight away, nobody will pay attention to you," Inej explained. "I can teach you what I know about rice planting, it's not much, but it –"

"My family planted rice and potatoes in Ravka," Laura cut her off, shaking her head. "I think I'll be fine."

Deepika's eyes widened. "You're Ravkan!" she said in Ravkan, excited to be able to communicate a bit better with someone from Inej's life. "Where are you from?"

"Os Korvo," Laura answered. "I grew up there for a while, but moved here when I was still a child. My Kerch is probably better than my Ravkan at this point, so I'm sorry for any mistakes while I use it."

"You developed a bit of a Kerch accent, but no mistakes," Deepika said.

Inej smiled with the interaction, exchanging an excited look with Kaz, who just blinked, not understanding what was going on since he didn't know how to speak Ravkan at all.

"Going back to the plan," Kaz said.

"I remember playing my cousin in the plantation, I remember quite a bit about how to behave in it, Kaz," Laura said. "I'll be fine. Just tell me when I'm going and I'll prepare it all."

"Let me finish talking, Laura, please," Kaz said, sounding quite exhausted of her hurry. "Jesper will be going with you, he'll pretend to be your husband so nobody can mess with you and you don't need to wear your hair up all the time. I know the Shu don't wear their hair up, but if any Kerch man mess with you, Jesper can send them down."
