Jake met us at the house. He came just before two and we all piled into the car to head to the airport. I was feeling all sorts of emotions. Anger, fear, confusion, excitement.
Sam had called the night before but had to get off the phone quickly as they were about to eat dinner. She just said that she was ready to come home and she'd see us tomorrow.
Now it was tomorrow and as far as we knew, she'd been on the plane and was heading home. I had no reason to believe she wasn't on the plane.
But, I was grateful I had Jake with us. If Samantha didn't get off the plane our first call would be to Mark and Carol and Samantha's phone. If there was no answer, we'd be calling London police.
I couldn't imagine Mark would sacrifice his career for Samantha, would he? He knew what we'd been through with Stanley and he knew we'd stop at nothing to get our daughter back.
But was Samantha important enough to him to uproot his family and likely place them in the crosshairs of an international investigation?
I had no way of knowing.
Rosie was happily singing Samantha's name. We'd been telling her all day that Samantha was coming home today. The whole way to the airport all we could hear from the back seat was her little voice.
"SaSa SaSa SaSa SaSa!" She would sing in varying levels of volume.
"Keep it up, kiddo," I said. "Maybe Daddy will write a song using Samantha."
Jenna smiled. Rosie shouted Samantha's name.
We pulled up to the arrivals level and parked the car. Jenna put Rosie in her stroller and we headed into the terminal to wait for Samantha's flight.
The closer the time came for her flight, which was listed as being on time, to land, the more anxious I got.
"Relax, Tyler," Jenna said, taking my hand. "She's almost home."
