**Manga Spoilers you have been warned

It has been three days since Denji has been battling with the eternity devil. Everyone was starving and had a dead look on her face. You were seated on a chair that was near the door, you were growing sick of being huddled in this room. While being trapped you were able to learn more about Himeno and slowly grow a friendship with her. You learned about why she wants to get Aki out of devil hunting. She told you that her previous master taught her that the only devil hunters that survive are the ones that have a "few loose screws". In Himeno's eyes, Aki is still normal, clearheaded. She worries that because of his unmoving goal to seek revenge, he too will succumb. So when she saw someone who is "seemingly" sane survive devil hunting, she gained a bit of hope that she would be able to get Aki out.

Himeno sat right beside you, she turned to you to spark conversation. "So, why did you come to Japan. You know there are internships in your country right. Why travel so many miles just to be here?"

You softly chuckle, "I know there are internships in my country, but I missed the deadline to apply. I was busy working and the due dates slipped my mind. However, I meet Makima and, well, the rest is history."

Himeno contently hummed, "Do you have any friends and family waiting at home?"

"Just my mom... I don't have many friends, im busy all the time, I don't have time to mingle. Being here, it's the first time I am able to sit back and gain some friendships."

"So you're saying I'm one of your first few friends?"

"Yeh, you're the second girl friend I make here." you smiled.

"Wow y/n, I didn't know I was dating you." Himeno teased.

You blushed, "what no?! that's not what I meant, I meant girl SPACE friend. You're very pretty don't get me wrong, I'm just not looking into dating anyone right, sorry to break the news." you bantered back.

"You have no time for friends, no time for a love life? You must want to live a boring life." she smiled back.

You scoffed, "Hey, my life has enough excitement. AND to correct you, I do have friends... now. Plus I just don't want to get romantically involved with someone, I'm leaving in a few months so what's the point."

"Ever heard of a hook-up?" she raised an eyebrow at you.

"Yes, but I don't part take in 'hook-ups' anymore."

"Anymore?... oh do spill, I want to learn more about the old you, they seemed like fun."

"Old me was stupid and reckless, that's all there is to it." you laughed, "I mean... I thought devil hunting would be fun."

"Well, I think you should let loose a little bit since you might go back to devil hunting soon..." You hummed contently.  "Imma check on Aki," Himeno said as she got up from where she was sitting and heads towards Aki.

"Aki, are you still alive..." Himeno mumbled.

"How much... How much time has passed...?" Aki questioned.

"It's been three days..." Himeno got on the bed with Aki, "Let's all go drinking together... it's over, so I'm gonna sleep a bit..." You saw this with a quick glance. Does Himeno like Aki? Maybe that's why she wants him to live.

Once you heard Denji's victorious roar, You all head outside of the hotel.

"We made it out..." Denji spoke softly, exhausted from the nonstop fighting, "We got a piece of the gun devil too. And it's sunny. Feels like I just took a nice dump... It's like I'm floating..." Denji falls back, and you catch him before he hits the hard concrete.

"I gotcha kid..." you cooed.

"He fell asleep..." Himeno states, "Well, he did keep fighting that devil for days on end without rest... we will take Aki and Denji to the hospital... you two go report this incident."

The two new recruits left to report the incident. You, Himeno and Power start taking the boys to the hospital so they could get their wounds treated. Himeno turned to you, "So... you know Makima will learn about your devil hunting history with the report those two will send right."

"Yeh I know, I figured she might have known for a while considering how she kept sending me to jobs I didn't need to be at. Guess I'll be forced back into devil hunting, nothing I can do about it now."

Himeno just laughed, "Don't worry if you're still rusty, I'll make sure you stay safe."

"Ha ha... I'm not that rusty, I still work out and train, just in case I would be forced into devil hunting again, just so happens it did."

----------

A day has passed since you dropped Denji and Aki at the hospital. You told Himeno you would go visit them on your own time. And there you were, a step away from the room where Denji and Aki were. You entered and saw Denji lay on his bed but didn't see Aki. You head towards Denji and he waves at you.

"Hey Denji, how you feeling?" you say softly, pulling a chair to sit next to him.

"I'm feeling better, excited I'll be getting that kiss from Himeno." he snorted.

You raise your eyebrow, "Now isn't she older than you. I'm pretty sure she said that just so you could try your best... I'm glad you are doing better."

"Hey, a promise is a promise. Also, you never told me you could grow trees."

"Yeh, it's just not me growing them."

He looked at you curiously. Waiting for your explanation. "well ..." you say, "Before I moved here, I used to be a private Devil Hunter, however, after my family passed, I decided to leave that and become an engineer. One thing leads to another and here I am."

He hummed contently. "Yeh, and now Makima will have me working alongside you guys as a devil hunter."

He turned to you with a look of concern, "does that mean you'll leave?"

"No... while it's not something I didn't want to do, it's not a deal-breaker here. Plus that just means I get to hang out with Power and you more." You said smiling, playing with his hair. "Rest up as much as you can, I'm gonna go look for Aki, I'll see you later okay." You head out from his room in search of Aki. You find him at the reception desk checking out.

"Hey Aki."

"Hey y/n."

"How are you feeling? Did your wound heal nicely?" you ask.

"Yeh, it was nothing too serious, I've been through worse. If anything I'm more worried about you. What did Makima say about your job?" he asked, concerned.

"Well, it's just like I suspected..." you looked down, "I will have to work alongside Division 4 as a devil hunter. Still have to keep my office, but now I am to report back to her for any missions we go to, and I'm expected to terminate devils once again."

"Hmm." He places his hand behind your back to attempt to comfort you. "I'm about to meet Himeno right now to collect any other piece we find from the Gun Devil, do you want to tag along?"

"Thanks for the offer, but I think I want a small break before I have to dabble into any devil-killing business again. But, Himeno offered to train some time this week, so maybe you can join us." you smiled, but inside you were worried. You didn't want to tell your mom that you would be a devil hunter again.
