33: "What... Is This... future?"

The next day, the same patrolling routine is followed. Walking down the street, having Denji out as bait, and keeping eyes open for any who seems suspicious. As the group paces forward, you notice Kobeni, the Violence fiend, and Kurose in front of you.

"Kurose." Aki voices, "It's been a while... we heard what happened to Tendo and Subaru. You don't need to push yourself to join the mission. That's the word from Miss Makima, and I agree with her. You ought to rest and recuperate."

Kurose seemed unemotional, wearing a stern face. "I begged Higashiyama and her buddy to help me slip out of the hospital to be here," he admits, "I want to avenge my friends; I have to. Please!"

"Kurose..." you falter, feeling terrible for the situation the scared man went through. Aki sighs heavily, "I know how you feel... But-"

"Is that your car?" Power interrupts, pointing as she stares at Kobeni's yellow car.

"U-um yeah...? I bought it with my own money..." Kobeni shyly admits, sweat dripping from her forehead, "I can chauffeur my family around with it, so..."

"Oh really..." The blood devil began to smile mischievously as she slowly walked up to the car. "I've been tired of all this walking lately. This is perfect! Give me a ride!" the blood fiend cheered. 

Kobeni became even more flustered and nervous, "Huh?!" she stuttered, slowly following behind the blood fiend. You sigh heavily, look at Aki, and signal with your head that you will follow the two girls and try to keep an eye on Power. Aki softly nods, watching you catch up with Kobeni and Power.

 "This looks like my car... Isn't this my car? Are you a thief?" Power continued, eyeing the vehicle. 

You began approaching the two girls, hearing Power's lie fall from her lips, "Power, c'mon, stop messing around with Kobeni now," you pressed. 

"'Tis mine..." Power triumphantly exclaims as she opens the car door and enters the driver's seat.

 "Um... that's the driver's seat, Power," you deadpanned as you kept your hand on the car door handle. Kobeni leans closer to the passenger side of the car, tempted to enter her car to ensure the fiend doesn't do anything reckless with it. 

"Got a problem? Want me to wash the car in her blood?" Power threatened as she placed her hands on the steering wheel. 

"EEP?!" Kobeni shrieked as she took a few steps back from the car. You rolled your eyes as you stepped inside the car in the backseat. 

"Calm down! I Obviously have a driver's license!"Power exclaims, playing around with the car further. Kobeni followed your lead and entered the passenger seat. Power continues playing around with the car when she ignites the engine, and the car turns on. Power laughs as she begins fooling around with the gear shift. You and Kobeni look at each other and speak these unspoken words, "Try to stop Power from driving." 

Kobeni nervously whimpers, asking the blond girl to turn off the car. Whereas you contrast Kobeni's lecturing method, "Power! I swear you better not press the gas on this fucken car!" you ordered. 

"Press the gas? Okay!" Power asserted as she quickly pressed her foot against the gas pedal. The car revs, and soon you are on the sidewalk. Kobeni and you scream, fearful for who or what may crash onto the vehicle. You hold onto the bar that hangs near your window and hear two thumps hit against the car. The vehicle stops quickly, allowing you to get out of the car. 

You look up a see the entire group is confused and mortified at what just occurred. Aki looks at you dumbfounded, with a look on his face asking how you let Power drive the car. The entire reason you left was to keep an eye on Power, and this mess unfolds. You awkwardly shrug your shoulder and mouth a small "sorry," unsure how these circumstances developed so quickly.
