Another Chance | Aki x Reader

17: It is my love life; I will make the call here...

Denji and Himeno were sitting outside her porch when she received a call from Aki.

"Oh, speak of the devil, Aki is calling right now. Let's see what he wants," she said happily, picking up the phone. "Hey Aki, what's up."

She looked at Denji while playing with a few strands of her black hair, "Yeh sure, I'll head over there right now with him. Want me to bring anything?" Denji looked at her with a curious look, wondering what she was talking about with Aki. 

"See ya," Himeno says softly. She stretched her arms, "Aki wants us to go to his place and eat; I guess you can try to set me up there," Himeno laughed.

Denji looked smugly, "I could try; after all, we made an alliance," he said proudly with a thumbs up. 

"I also allied with y/n," she said, taking another bite from her food.

"Y/n is going to help you get with Aki too?" he tilted his head in a questioning manner.

"Well, our alliance is different. You just can't tell her." Himeno was worried about telling you about her crush. Of course, she made it obvious, but she still felt a bit insecure. Every time she saw you and Aki interact, she envied the way you could make him laugh and smile effortlessly. She looked hopelessly up at Denji and softly asked, "Do you think Aki likes someone?"

Denji pondered for a minute, "Hmm, not that I know of, the only girl he talks to a lot is y/n. But either way, I'll help you out."

She hummed in response, just as she suspected.

"But did you see that one guy who kept talking to her in the restaurant? I think he might like her." Denji said with food-filled in his mouth.

This sparked an idea in Himeno: she could try to hook you up with Madoka and see how Aki reacts to that. Maybe from there, she can gauge how interested he is in you. However, she thought how selfish of her that would be to force you into a relationship with someone you just met. It would be selfish of her for you to be a part of her experiment unknowingly. Especially after you explicitly said you didn't want a relationship with someone. 

"Oh, I know!" Denji interjected, cutting off Himeno's thoughts, "We should also try to get y/n and Madoka together; she seemed all giggly around him yesterday!"

Himeno sighed, "I don't know Denji; she might get mad that we are trying to set her up with Madoka; we don't even know if he likes her like that. Let alone if y/n likes him."

"Well," Denji responded, "Let's ask Madoka what he thinks of her and what y/n thinks of him. And move from there."

Himeno just laughed, "Alright, kid, get up cause we are going to Aki's place."

Y/n Pov...

You were setting up the plates on the table alongside Aki when you heard a knock on the door.

"I'll go get that; it must be Himeno and Denji," Aki said, setting the last plate he had. You nodded in response and stayed behind near the table.

Once Aki opened the door, you heard Himeno's voice, "Hey, Aki."

"Mh... smells good! What are we eating? I'm starving, oh hey y/n." Denji says casually as he enters the apartment.

"Aki, why didn't you mention y/n was gonna be here?" Himeno said with a pout, "I would've brought more drinks for her as well."

Aki just shrugs his shoulders as you begin to talk, "I'm surprised he didn't tell you since I'm the one who cooked." You placed your hand on your hip, "Are you trying to take the credit for my cooking, Aki?"
