Casita, the home of the great Madrigals, boasted about by any villager lucky enough to see inside. Everyone talks of this house - brought to life with magic or the love of the family inside, no one knows - with such conviction of its greatness that you could never disagree. I was one of the lucky few to have been inside Casita but better yet, I had the privilege of being the first outsider ever to stay overnight and I'd just become the first outsider to ever wake up in that house.
My eyes opened to a gentle hum emerging from the curly-haired girl across the room. A smile took its hold on my features as I thought about the previous night and the dreams it left me with.
"Good morning, Y/N." Mirabel grinned at me as she folded up fabric, left out from yesterday's endeavors, and tidied it away, "I hope you didn't have too much trouble with the buttons of your dress."
"It was tricky but I managed." Tiredness seeped through my voice from my late night, "May I say that that dress is absolutely stunning. I can't believe someone could create that on their own, never mind in the time-span you were given."
"Are you doubting my skill?"
"I was but clearly you've far exceeded my expectations." I grinned back and her as I stretched my sore arms, "So, what's on the agenda for today?"
"I have more sewing to do, some very intricate stuff. I need privacy so unfortunately, you'll have to make your own plans." she regarded me sincerely, "But feel free to join my family and I for breakfast, we can't allow you to leave on an empty stomach so it's mandatory really."
"I hope it's mandatory, your mom cooks the best food." I could already hear the gurgles in my stomach just thinking about food, "Hey, by any chance do you know if my tio was here yesterday?"
"Your tio? Not that I know of."
"Does he often visit unprecedently? Like in the middle of the night?"
"I don't think so, unless there's something I don't know about." it seemed as though I was concerning her, "He visits us once a week at most and that's always at meal times."
"Huh."
"Why'd you ask? Is something wrong?"
"No, no, I simply thought I heard him speak last night when you were asleep, it must've been the fatigue talking." I didn't want to concern her.
"Okay, well I'll let you get ready in here, in the mean time I'll go do something else, I guess." Mirabel finished putting everything away and waved herself out the door, leaving me in lamenting silence.
I removed my night clothes and pulled on a similar skirt and blouse to yesterday, making sure to close the windows which Mirabel opened for some reason, and pondered on my plan for the day; Camilo was really my only other friend here so I could've ask him to hang out with me but I didn't want to distract him from his chores so I decided to spend the day with my parents whom I hadn't properly talked to since we first arrived.
Upon leaving the room I noticed that Mirabel was crouched beside Bruno's tower, seemingly focused on something from what I could tell, though I could only see the back of her.
Tip-toeing up to the girl, she appeared to have her ear pressed to the door, "Mirabel," I whispered but she still yelped.
"Shh, I'm trying to listen."
"Mirabel."
She ignored me.
"What are you doing?" I spoke louder this time to show I wanted her attention.
"Bruno's looking at the future inside," the girl pressed her whole body onto the door as if that would help her hear better, "And I think your tio's in there with him."
