--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Freddy took a breath, chest tight as he gazed down the dim hallway, their footsteps slow and heavy against the concrete. He tightened his hand around the gators, thumb caressing the edge as he steeled his nerves.
"So...how long has Bonnie been in your head?" The bear asked cautiously, eyeing the reptile from the corner of his eye.
Monty blinked, raising his free hand to his chin, "Somethin' like a few hours since after Alex died ah' think. It started as an itch in mah head; now it's loud and never shuts up."
"Hey, ah' take offense to that lizard!" Bonnie huffed, lip upturned in a pout.
Monty chuckled, gazing at the rabbit, "Yea, I'm sure ya did cottontail." The bunny grumbled further at the nickname.
Freddy smiled despite not fully understanding their conversation, "Well, I, for one, am excited at the prospect of having you back, Bonnie; I've missed you." The bear purred, genuinely excited to have his bunny back.
He felt Monty flinch, pulling his hand away from the bear's, hurrying towards parts and services,
"He is too, Freddy." A hint of sadness in his voice as he stared ahead.
Freddy's ears twitched, confusion bubbling in his bright neon eyes, "Are you alright, Monty." The bear's hand extended towards the gator, simply hanging in the air.
Monty faltered, refusing to meet the bear's gaze as he spoke, "Yep, I'm fine. Why would anything be wrong."
The bear narrowed his eyes, not believing the reptile for one moment, "See," The bear halted, standing in the middle of the hall, "I just don't believe you, tell me what's upsetting you. I want to help-"
The reptile interrupted him with a tight laugh, "Help? Since when have ya ever wanted to help me? Ya only care about yourself...and the rabbit."
The bear stepped forward, chest a mere foot from the reptile's back, "Monty, that simply isn't true. I will admit I've been selfish these past few nights, but that doesn't mean I care for you any less than Bonnie."
Monty scoffed, tail flicking against the floor as he crossed his arms over his broad chest, "Yea, right. Keep telling yourself that if it makes ya feel better at night."
"Monty, maybe ya should jus' hear him out...Fred's only tryin to help; why don't ya jus' tell him how ya feel? Would ya rather ah' tell him?" Bonnie questioned cautiously, not wanting to upset the gator further.
"No, Bon, ah' don't want to...and stay out of my head, can't ah' at least think in peace, damn." Monty grumbled under his breath.
The bear tsked beside him, "So you'll speak with Bonnie but not me, really?"
Monty turned towards him sharply, jabbing a claw into the bear's chest as he glared upwards at Freddy, "Ah' don't need to tell ya jack shit, and the rabbit only knows cause he's stuck in there. Just wait; you two will have plenty to gossip about soon enough. So stop asking and leave me be, ah'-ah' don't need ya." His tone was harsh, words skirting with guilt and sorrow as he snapped at Freddy.
The reptile realized his mistake as the bear's eyes darkened, black pools of sludge boring through the gator. Monty faltered, backing away from the bear, the gator's mouth agape and clicking with silent words. Freddy blinked slowly, Monty could hear the bear's gear's turn as he thought, the gator shifting on his feet as Freddy remained still and silent. The gator didn't want to back down, not in the slightest, but the way the bear just stood there in silence freaked him out.
