Who knew such white laced words spoken from the lips of two innocent children could haunt me so much?
At night everything is warped and tinted a rustic red,
chaotic carousel music digs its nails into my ears and splits open my thoughtsso that my head is exploding in pain,
Those two little girls dip their fingers into those painful memoriesnow cooling, congealing, and hardening,
and drag it across the walls to send two grotesque stick figures skipping across the peeling wallpaper,
they pry themselves from the painting and dance around me in a circle singing:
Friends we are forever
Friends we'll be forever
But now I know, looking back,
that Death had always known better.
